Thanks everyone! I went to the doctor today, and she said it was just a severe muscle strain. She prescribed Skelaxin and Oxaprozin, both of which are already working. She also told me to use a heating pad and just relax as much as I can, and it should work out.

The Skelaxin works. ER's give out hydrocodone and oxycodone like candy, but private physicians are hesitant due to its addictive effects.

Glad you have gotten some relief. You need to do some stretching exercises every day once you get over this acute experience of pain.

My students always come to me for health advice. They say, "They don't call you 'Doctor R.' for nothing." I have diagnosed many students with diseases that their physicians had missed, including a skin rash being a manifestation of hepatitis, a flu that one student's baby had actually being meningitis, hyperprolactinemia being a side effect from a medication for bipolar disorder, etc.

PV, this is a Mama talking -- just go to a real doctor! Get a proper diagnosis before you try home remedies.

No can do. We've got a busy day tomorrow. Plus, there's a stubborn part of me that wants to go to work and force the discomfort away. That and I get restless when I have a full day of nothing to do.
