You can thank CCK, but I don't know jack about the LDS Church. I was just making some observations on a few points of comparison between two religions. If I had an extra life, I might be a theologian because I find religion very interesting. Many have the same basic lessons/principles, and many have extremists.

I realize that, but it did help in the process. Afterall a teachers aid is still a teacher. ;-)

I suppose this is off topic (SJ) but a few of the nicest people I've ever known were Mormons. They were wonderful, giving people.

OK, please continue with Romney's political view now. ;-)

Many do, but certainly not all. I know preachers in medium sized towns who make an easy $85K -$120K salary. It's "good" business. There are also many preachers who struggle in small towns, and bounce around from town to town, saying that God spoke to them, but I have an idea it is more about the money speaking.

I don't know how I keep getting talked into discussing religion. :bang: Lets keep this one on poliTRICKS and Romney. If you want to talk religion, please feel free to start a new thread, or do it under the Preacher Candidate's forum, Gov Huckabee.

Romney finished 2nd in spite of his religion, but it appears that Hickabee finished first because of his religion! That's my dimestore take on things.

...and New Hampshire tends to be secular, so that may turn. Regardless, I'll leave that up to the news heads to whack about. We have already discussed that the dumb masses will focus on religion and abortion, but what is your take on Romney's stance on issues?

Have we determined (after umpty-dozen posts on religion) what his stance on issues is/are/whatever? I posted something about immigration, but I'll be dad-gummed if I remember what it is after reading all the religious garbage.

Romney is the one to beat because he is a centrist, is highly polished, not easily flustered, incredibly organized from the grass roots level, well funded, and comes from a political family. He has been a Repub governor of a liberal state, has a record of accomplishment, and a rather exemplary family life. The dog-on-the-car-roof story, however is bizarre, something I would more attribute to Dan Rather. i like Romney's ideas about eliminating capital gains tax. I disagree with his assumption that Islamo-terrorism is our biggest problem....I think our own spending is our biggest problem. Romney's a guy who will be the ultimate test to see if the Republican party is going to swing too far right to win. Bad economic times may produce an unpredictable election result this time. Folks may just be voting their wallets in 10 months the way I see the economy headed.
