So my doctor has pulled all the tricks out of his hat as long as possible to keep me from going through the nightmare of a barrage of antibiotics and nasty drugs to help bring my chronic tick borne Babesia infection down to a tolerable level, but it didn't work, and now I need to up the ante and barrage my body with these nasty drugs. All six of them.
One of the drugs HAS to be taken with a fatty meal or it will not absorb.
The drug costs $900 a bottle, so this is important. Short of sticking my face in a can of lard, I need a list of good fats and some recipes.
(for simplicity, Babesia is a parasitic blood infection like malaria)

This may be timely for others who are trying to lower their cholesterol and change health habits.

So have at it.

So sorry you are dealing with this. :sosad: I don't have any ideas for you off the top of my head, but can you define "fatty" as percentage of fat calories to total calories? Are you looking for 40 percent fat? More?

Nuts are very fatty and very healthy. Would a snack of almonds be sufficient?

I wonder what kind of fat would be best mangy? I am glad you are doing this treatment and I hope it won't be too difficult to get through.

so you want some high fat meal ideas, is that it? surely we can do this! let me think...

Let me just supply a list of my favorite foods.

Or just eat a stick of butter every day!

Hang in there Mango--

Any Southern meal should work. How about roast with gravy and mashed potatos, a good Southern staple. ;-) But did you say healthy?:dunno: Can you add supplements such as Omega fatty acids?

Are you looking for 40 percent fat? More? Thanks TFT. I've been getting conflicting reports from other Babs buddies. Some said they were told 10 grams minimum, others said 25-30 grams. One study of the drug I read showed people who had 23 grams of butter vs 46 grams of butter did 2.7 -4.0 better than when they fasted.
My doc is top notch and says a standard meal should be fatty enough.

Breakfast will be the toughest meal cause I guess I'll be eating eggs and bacon or hash browns every morning.

nuts, olive oil, fish oils are all good fats.
no nuts because of yeast, but thanks.

high fat with healthy fats yes. Too tired to look up recipes.

Maybe I should come to Sowal and just have gorgonzola burgers every day, fried onion rings, and big milk shake at Flips Flops daily. :D
Then hit the beach for a long walk or better yet a nap.

Avacados, I believe, are "good" fat candidates. I can eat my weight in guacamole with lots of lime, tomatoes, onions & a little mayo & sour cream

Funny how we all jump in with recipes about healthy foods, but we are too ashamed to share our daily recipes with you, Mango. How about a cheeseburger pie -- yummy! Check the back of the BisQuick box. That is filled with enough fat to last you a lifetime. Also check out the best Mac and Cheese that I've ever eaten, thanks to IBD, google "Fall on your knees mac and cheese." Good stuff.
