The fact that Rush Limbaugh hates McCain makes McCain look almost hot to me!

Depending on which page of CNN.com you look at, Rudy has either one or two delegates pledged. I've also heard that he has zero delegates pledged. By backing McCain, McCain picks up no delegates. In reality, he probably gains no momentum by this endorsement. However, when we look at Huckabee, who is not really a contender, he has 26 delegates pledged and will likely pick up more in the South East. Currently, McCain has 95 and Romney has 67. When Huckabee drops out, if he directs his pledged delegates to Romney (who is more conservative that McCain), That gives McCain 95 and Romney 93. If Ron Paul directs his 6 delegates to Romney's camp, that gives Romney the lead with 99, to McCain's 95. This race is becoming really close.

Most pundits agree with me :D that Huckabee looked pretty good in the debate last night. I'm actually starting to like him again and for some reason, the differences between Huckabee and McCain seem more pronounced than between Huckabee and Romney. However, Huckabee has no shot at the nomination.

If Huckabee were to support McCain, hoping to be VP, he'd have to wait in line behind Crist and Guiliani. If Huckabee were really ambitious, he'd support Romney because the two of them together might be able to pull something off and Huckabee would be in a great position to be Romney's VP. Huckabee's supporters would certainly find it difficult to vote for McCain, but they would also be held back by Romney's religion.

I think the religious problem would be hard for Huckabee to overcome on a personal basis.

I, too, think that the religious restraints of the Southern Baptist Convention would be difficult for Huckabee to cross, by endorsing Romney. Huckabee has publicly declared that he believes the woman's roll is subservient to the man, so he obviously doesn't separate himself from religion when it comes to poliTRICKS. That said, Huckabee's moral values don't align at all with McCain's and that will also be taken into account. McCain's social values don't agree with Huck's religious beliefs, and that, too, will be just as large of a hurdle, and should be enough for him to endorse Romney, who at least aligns more closely, politically speaking. If he was in the race for another reason, he may just lean toward the candidate who promises him the most in exchange to promise the delegates.

Sorry to say; but I think we are going to be in Iraq until the oil runs out.
No matter who our president is.
They aren't building that billion dollar Embassy and all of those huge bases to just give away.

McCain will probably stifle his personal animosity and pick Mitt as his VP in order to appease the conservative establishment.

I think you are right on target about the US being in Iraq until the oil runs out. The dems will be backpedaling when they realize this.
