I must be missing something here cause I do not recall a VP ever actually doing a whole lot.

Al Gore did quite a bit for a VP. It was not as much as he wanted to do, but he made "streamlining government" his own little project, and did a nice job.

Interesting how it was the "conservatives" who then went out and started spending a bunch of money ...

If Huckabee were to support McCain, hoping to be VP, he'd have to wait in line behind Crist and Guiliani. If Huckabee were really ambitious, he'd support Romney because the two of them together might be able to pull something off and Huckabee would be in a great position to be Romney's VP. Huckabee's supporters would certainly find it difficult to vote for McCain, but they would also be held back by Romney's religion.
i don't think crist has any chance at vp,to many issues and no name recognition. rudy is a real long shot, not enough help politically although maybe he could be ag or homeland security. huckabee seems to be the natural choice, and i can't see any difficulty with his supporters to vote for mccain afterall they are republicans. as to teaming with mitt thats still not enough to stop mccain now. thats just mitt's supporters last hope and i don't think it will happen, people want to be associated with a winner.

Mitt's supporters don't want to be associated with a winner. We want him to win because we disagree with McCain's legislation and liberal stance on the issues. Now he's got Arnold supporting him and giving an endorsement speech calling for a return to the 1990 CO2 emission standards. That is an impossible task and would ground our economy to a halt. McCain is totally off base--literally.

Huck has a very narrow base and not much to offer a McCain ticket.
Mitt has strong support and the respect of indies and libs for his business acumen.
He is a more viable candidate in his own right which considering Johns age will be an issue for some.
Granted the jostling between them makes this appear unlikely but stranger things have happened. Remember when Bush 41 called Reagan's plan Voodoo economics.

no ? but the people lining up to make endorsements do.

And I've been saying that politics is a good old boys network and difficult for an outsider to break in. Honestly, the endorsements by Arnold and Guiliani are very telling of McCain's true colors. They are the left of the Republican party. Arnold is Republican in name only.

Mitt has support by Missouri Governor, Matt Blunt, who I think will, in the near future, will be a great candidate for President.

mitt's father would have made a better President than paranoia boy Nixon, but then most anyone would have been better after LBJ. Reminds me of now.... we have a nutjob warmonger, so everyone's running on the nebulous word "change". It's code for "I no longer accept GW's Christmas cards. The problem for Mitt's father was the same challenge facing Mitt. George Romney came back from a visit to Vietnam, and said essentially the war was a monumental waste. Wrongo! It was the end of Mitt's father's aspirations, and Romney won't make the same utterance. I would bet my life, however, Romney will not run around starting wars. McCain's got that look, that same little man's syndrome, much like Bush strutting around the ranch with his ten pound belt buckle, that says "just give me any reason". A big chunk of our country loves it.

i don't think any of the candidates from either party are as dumb as w. it is just a matter of who is most capable of cleaning up his mess. and un fortunately that includes an incomplete military action. mccain has been to war i don't think he wants to start another for no reason. i'm independent and think mccain will win the republican nomination, also i don't think i can vote for hillary. i hope obama wins the democratic nomination then i will have a choice to make mccain or obama.
