He was talking about Warren Buffett. Buffett said that his secretary is taxed at a higher percentage rate than he is, because some taxes are capped at $200,000 (ie, Social Security), so people don't pay taxes on anything they make in excess of $200,000. So, Buffett and Obama both have secretaries who pay a greater percentage of their income in taxes than they do -- Buffett made $46M last year, and Obama made just shy of $1M (his book did very well).

Higher rate, not higher dollar amount.

Thanks. I have more research to do on this one.

I just keep scratching my head and wondering what Walton GOP's objective is here? Why keep posting all this anti-Obama stuff? What is the point, since he supports no one, certainly not Hillary Clinton? Why would a die hard Republican insist on trashing one of the opposing party's candidates in the primaries, rather than championing his own?:dunno:
Texas might not get their more conservative Republican voters out in the numbers they would like with McCain on the ticket. They need Hillary on the ticket in order to bring their base out - voting against her. Could that be the same for Florida?

That is a good theory. Nothing riles up the right like Hillary. We are SO screwed if she gets this nomination.

I KNOW!!! I will be so friggin MAD if the democrats manage YET again to screw this up. Do they not realize this???????? Republicans are salivating at the thought of HRC getting the nomination.

I honestly cannot figure out what she offers that he does not......... he has such broad appeal and has earned the respect of many republicans who loathe her (for right or wrong!)

Yeah, that Toots is such a slave to the patrimony. She's always telling me to get in my kitchen and remain barefoot and get pregnant. She's a real woman-basher. Sometimes I wonder who twisted her arm to make her pursue her phD...she must have been forced her father or her husband or both...it must have really made her sick to her stomach to be respected for her work and her mind.

I did actually say this. you may be little miss "thing" up in here at the political forum. but, somebody's got to feed that skunkape of yours. plus you are a fine cook. we would not want to waste your domestic goddess skills.

for those watching the debate:
it occurs to me that how obama is answering the questions about iraq could only be answered with such COMPLETE assurance that he would NEVER make a mistake is one that someone who is inexperienced and naive could make. it's the folly of youth to be so judgemental when you simply haven't lived some of the complexities of life and government.

i'm very pleased that hillary actually admitted some cuplability and that she could be wrong. and felt obligated to share her logic and process with the american people she serves.

that is not something we've seen with bush and i really hope our next president isn't so arrogant and self-assured that he is right all the time and can't tolerate mistakes or doesn't have the experience to know that problems and bad things can occur even if you mean well.

I actually heard him say that he needs people in his cabinet/advisors that aren't YES people because he isn't always right. Did you miss that?:dunno:

we all have different perspectives.
i'm very put off by people who speak in such absolutes as obama did. it's just a sign of naivete and/or arrogance. and those are things i think have been really detrimental to our country in recent years and we don't need in leader. i watched with several people and we all kind of caught on to that and our teeth grated...

look plenty of people disagree with me on that. that's why bush has been in office for 8 years. i don't expect that everyone would be put off by it.

Punzy, it's no different than my Dem friends who register as Republicans so that they can sabotage the GOP vote in the primaries. The rules don't apply to politics.
