Tomorrow after church I'll stop at Borders and check out the maps. It helps when booking the hotels. I would love to stay close to the mall but the most of the hotels there are really expensive then they charge for parking on top of that. So far, near or far I haven't found anything under $250. It's spring break so that's the way it goes..

I'm looking at March24-27 if anyone's bored and wants to find us a 3+4+ star hotel for under $200 a night.:D I still need to check out GOP's link...

I would agree that due to cost and crime to stay outside the city proper and metro in. My niece lives in Arlington, VA and when my brother goes to visit, they stay at the Hampton Inn there. He finds the area very safe and very close to the metro to come and go to the city.

But it would be nice just to walk out of your hotel and "be there". Kind of like staying on Disney property. I am able to find some good deals on Priceline and Hotwire only if I could "commit". I'm such a planner that I just hate the unknowing before booking. And then you can't cancel and you have to pay the entire stay.

I just typed this whole bit and lost it.

Arlington is the place to be with the least expensive rooms.
Go to this site http://dc.about.com/od/hotels/a/hostels.htm
Click on one find hotels down on the bottom and it brings you to about.com travel. You punch in your dates and it looks up every hotel available, the price, and how best to get that price.
The Hilton in Arlington came up about $150 a night and was 4 stars and it was 1 block to the Metro. Arlington is only about 2 miles from D.C. :D

I stayed in Arlington a couple of years ago and it was nice.

OL, I will check with my brother. He is going to visit my niece the week after Easter. And believe me he is paying the least possible for a clean safe room. He is a minister and he is very conservative with his money.;-)

Jdarg seems to be your best bet too, anyone that has gone and taken kids will have lots of info.

We're thinking about taking a 3-4 day trip to DC with the kids during spring break.

When I first read this all I could think was...."the kids must have drawn the short straw." :funn:

Seriously though--how old are the kids?
