Skippertoo. Have you ruled out plantar fasciitis? This is when the achillis (sp?) tendon shrinks and makes it very painful to walk on the heel. It's quite nasty, though it is likely to heal with physical therapy and lots of stretching and really good shoes with the right support. It can take about a year to really heal.
Rita: Hope your mom's feet and legs feel better soon.
I would recommend B-12 and potassium increase also. If she likes bananas they are high in potassium.

I hope that your mother is doing well and has relief, with her discomfort! She is very blessed, in having a loving and concerned daughter! I have occasional discomfort, from Fibromyalgia. okay goodwitch and rita.l what do these b12 supplements do for you? and how and why? just asking because of ankle pain, which is much better these days but will always be "there".
I had wonderful results (nearly pain free) with cymbalta (anti-depressant & pain depressant) - but decided to come off of the drug to evaluate pain level without it. pain level is much better since ankle surgery recovery is well under way. but, still... always on the lookout for potential solutions...

I am quite worried that the symptoms you are all describing could be signs of something serious. I was taught that anything chronic that was more tham mild discomfort should be mentioned to a doctor. (And I say that as a 28 year old who takes 1 prescription and 4 non prescription pills a day ;-) ).
