Sorry about your IPOD J-funn. :sosad: OK, now you don't owe me a tuna dip if that makes you feel better.

Theft has always been a problem on 30A, now more so than ever. I've been hit three times.

Once they stole the hammocks out that were hanging in our breezeway. The sheriff said that spring breakers often take home 'salvage hunt' items as souveniers. OK, great. But isn't that still theft?

Another time, I left my truck window down, as I usually do, and someone took the daytimer, checkbook and cd case off my front seat.

The final time, before I moved off of 30A, someone walked into my home and stole all of my camera equipment, lenses, filters, tripod the works, along with a Guess Jacket (12 years ago), my diamond "divorce" ring, my dead brother's aquamarine, my wedding band and a gold and diamond watch that was a wedding present from my wife.

None of the above was locked or locked up because I had this false sense of security about everything being so peachy on 30A.

Reality check. Lock it or lose it.

soft top jeeps have the same cut-in problems.

My Jeep was sliced and diced 2 years ago. They couldn't get the stereo out so they destroyed it with a knife. They also punched out the windshield. I have never locked it since. (they did get 25 months in state prison) Someone did go through it the Friday before last in Seagrove. They opened the glove box and threw out the owner's manual. There were folding chairs in the back they didn't even touch. I have a feeling that whoever is doing this is not very bright and will be caught soon.

Jessifunn, that really sux! Thank you for the warning. And, Scooterbug - that is just plain scary! Is this kind of activity worse in Seagrove than other places along 30A? Just wondering because I'm browsing for a rental for me and hubby. Someone please tell me it's still wonderful.....please?.....It has been ages since actually living in Walton County for me.

Also, do people normally chain their bikes on 30 A now? I lived with my husband in Holland for a while, and there are two types of bicycles there - stolen, and soon-to-be.

Don't worry, it's still wonderful here! The stuff we are talking about is actually news/an issue to us because we are so spoiled by the lack of crime. :D

I'd get my butt kicked, groped, and robbed if I was as casual about security in some of the places I've lived/visited as I am here.

Locking my bike hasn't been an issue as it's either with me, or indoors to protect it from rust, but I may dig one out for longer shopping trips to Publix etc.

They should. The innocence is gone (and so are a number of our bicycles).

Which is really annoying! When I upgraded to my current bike, the old one sat by 30-A for days ................ then was gone 15 minutes after I put the "free bike" sign on it!

So this past weekend an Ipod was stolen out of the drive way of my house in Seagrove. I orginally thought it was just "misplaced" but now I have learned that it was in fact truely stolen. Other neighbors have reported wallets, ipods, xm radios, and cameras also stolen from their cars.

Just a friendly BEWARE!

We just discovered that our radar detector was stolen out of our car this weekend - we also live in Seagrove. :pissed: The car was parked in our driveway - unlocked. This really sucks - it was a Christmas present, but more than that, it pisses me off that I don't feel safe anymore.

*sidenote - they left the Sirius radio (must only like XM)
