 Just post pics ... unless you want to hire me a sitter! :rotfl:

Bring 'em with--I'll babysit while you work!!
I'll post pics sometime when I feel motivated. I'm not nearly as ready as LadyD. I just think about it from time to time.
Seriously though, I mainly need cabinet and countertop advice. My cabs are blah. I've been thinking about painting them black, but I am old and tired--not sure I have the energy.

I understand, now that I am three-kids-tired. I have painted three kitchens by hand, and many many many interior rooms, and tiled floors and backsplashes ... but the very thought of doing so now is a joke. I just like to live vicariously these days.

If you paint the cabinets, finish the top coat with a water based polyurethane[blue can, minwax]. This will stop all grungy fingerprint action. Take the doors off and roll out the minwax with a foam roller to keep the product from bubbling.

DD, sometimes we think about things a lot and never do them either. But these things I plan on doing. We just need to take one room at a time. Our den consists of all wood, the same pine wood in the kitchen. Talking about dark. Imagine a entire room with the knotted pine wood.

Yes, Lady, I feel your pain. I've got the same dark wood. Well, not pine, but still dark. I've begged to paint it for years, but Mr. DD likes it. :bang:

My main issues are with the floors in the kitchen and the one bathroom and I want up to date countertops and want different colors in the house other than off white. Yuck. This house had shag gold carpet in the rooms when we first moved in here. Talking about retro. We pulled up all the carpet and exposed the wood floors underneath, which need to be sanded and redone. So much to do that it all will take years to get done.
