sunburn can cause blistering and extreme swelling. (speaking from personal experience). Don't be surprised if it takes 10 days for the swelling to return to normal.

I would go see/call the doctor, especially if it is getting worse or starts to spread up your legs.

Based on my oops moments with lack of sun protection, you would know if you really sunburnt your feet because the area around the blisters would be a bright red sunburn and your toe webbing would be pale.

Scooter, Joe and Chicken, you must be right on target, although my toes are not webbed, that would be my golden retreiver's the "webbing" is white! Yeh, I have sun burned feet and it all should go away in a week or so. I will always want to come back to South Walton even if I get sunburned and our wagon gets taken! I might stick with the jellyfish theory though, it just sounds more exotic around here. Thanks again!

lol. I know a guy nicknamed "SharkBait" because his story about surfing at night sounded much better than his friend running into the phone booth with him in it, while driving his VW van. The "friend" was just going to scare him. Now he has a big scar down his entire leg from the surgery. lol. Stick with the poisonous jelly fish story. It could be good.

Thank you guys soooo much, my "thank you" button is broken or something. I appreciate everyone's kindness. I keep thinking the sun burn thing too but the welts are huge and my feet are so swollen. Normally, I never burn and do keep my feet buried in the sand as much as possible but I run after three grandsons too. We have been back in MO since Saturday and never were around any vegetation of the poison ivy sort. Surely it will be better tomorrow, am barefoot at work, walk in wearing the biggest softest flip flops ever, really cute for an old gal! Thank YOU!!!!

If it IS/was sunburn, may I recommend a specific type of natural cocoa butter lotion?... there's a brand called "Queen Helene", it comes in a tall, cream colored, cylindrical, bottle, quart size I think. I know you can get it at Wal-mart, (usually on the bottom shelf w/the other lotions) and it's cheap ($3-4)...but let me tell you, this stuff is AWESOME!!! My husband and I swear by it now. We put it on after we get sun and NEVER peel.
I've gotten burned pretty bad before, and this stuff takes the heat/redness away...so I would give it a shot, or go ahead and invest in some for the summer!
Also, try sleeping w/your feet elevated on a pillow to help w/the swelling. But keeping the skin hydrated, if it's a burn, will help w/a speedy recovery! Hope that helps and that you heal nicely!

Poison Ivy/Oak, wierd bugs in the sand, and sticker bushes are nothing once you have encountered the stinging nettle. :yikes: My eyesite isn't what it use to be, but I can still spot those evil little weeds from about 20 paces.
