Tofu, I've already stated my personal thoughts on judgment. The statement, "do not judge others," is only part of a bigger picture. As someone else wrote, it is referring to the "final judgment," not every day life. It is also noting that you will be judged by your peers and society, so make your judgments wisely, and remember the log in your own eye.... That is quite a different concept than the order, "do not judge others." I don't mean to get wrapped up in semantics, but I just wanted to point out a big distinction.

Trying to keep on the topic of homosexuality and the Bible, I think Ecclesiastes is a good read. It doesn't directly address homosexuality, but it does address to some degree, the "final judgment," noting that rich or poor, we all stand before God in the end. (that's my brief summation of the entire book of Ecc.) That could be carried over into homosexual behavior -- hetero or homo, we all stand before God in the end. Isn't there something about judging the sin, not the sinner, in the Bible? As I pointed out earlier, the Bible states that even looking with lust at a woman is a sin, and sins being the same in the eyes of
"the Lord," I can say that I'm guilty as charged, so throw your stones at me, too, while you are throwing them at the gay people of the world.

That doesn't mean that part is not important.

I have followed this thread since it began and would like to interject a thought.
Perhaps the thread shouldn't be a battle-ground attempting to convince anyone that their way of thinking is wrong and needs to be fixed. It misses the original point of the thread.
6th Gen has made a position known as well as many others. Can it be left at that?
Does anyone really know who is right. I think Minnie stated that elegantly.

The battle I see raging on is about justifying ones position on being gay. 6th Gen might feel like a god if all of a sudden SWGB went straight. SWGB might feel like a god if all of a sudden 6th Gen turned gay.
I really don't imagine we are going to see either of these scenarios. So, can we beat the swords into plow shares and go find other people who want to lock in their position on SWGB's original question.

For the hundreds and thousands of people who visit Sowal.com, you'd think we would have had more than about 50 people weigh in on the poll. C'mon all ye lurkers, log in and stand up to be counted.....or are ya chicken?

For the record, I won't feel like a god if I change someone's sexual patterns.

:rotfl: I thought people didn't turn gay, they were born that way. :dunno: ;-)

chicken for sure. Feelings on such topics are often deeply rooted, and people just prefer not to go there. May be a good thing. ;-)

I've bit my tongue on the whole idea that gay people call people like me "straight".
Then they are what? Crooked? Bent? Unstraight? :dunno:

A little hesitant to post on this... But here it goes...

Instead of asking people their opinion on 'gay marriage', why not ask proponents of 'gay marriage' their opposition to 'unions' (maybe thats been asked before and i'm a little behind)... It's a definition thing with me

http://dictionary.law.com/default2.asp?selected=1217&bold=marriage

If people don't want two men/women getting 'married', get a union then everyone is happy...
>People opposed to men/women getting 'married' to each other will be happy because they're not getting 'married' they're getting a 'union'...
>People that are pro 'gay marriage' will be happy because they then "enjoy" ( i use that word loosely) the law benefits of being 'married'...

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."

Why argue, can't both sides compromise and both be happy????

It's just a name...

As I understand it, having the 2 different names is as acceptable as having 2 drinking fountains - either you are truly equal and enjoy the same benefits/things or you don't.

IMO a marriage is 2 people who love each other legally committing themselves to spending their lives together - and other people will disagree with that definition!

Two water fountains... Good point.. However, in the day's of 'two water fountains' there were a lot of privileges that came with drinking from one fountain as opposed to the other... Not the case here... The names would be different, but legal and other privileges would remain the same.
