The part I don't get is that there is a path...thank you very much; however, when walking or running on the road, you are should run / walk against traffic. Bikes ride with traffic...
Maybe the lady had read the post about the little girl getting ran over by a bicycle the other day, or maybe she was blind. She may have also been trying to avoid the people driving their golf carts on the bike path. Or, maybe she just likes the adrenalin rush.
Last week, I saw a man teaching his kid to ride their bikes going against the flow of traffic on 30A, in WaterColor.
The Watercolor 4 way is actually much worse than Seaside now IMO. People go flying through there on bikes in all directions w/ no regard for traffic.
Last night, I had one girl dart out in front of me after I had stopped at that intersection. I had already began to go, and had to lock the brakes, as she waved an oops. No headlights on the WaterColor bikes. I proceed again, and some lady tries the same stunt, and didn't seem to know where the brakes were located. Again, no headlights on those bikes. I almost didn't see her and I was very focused on driving, not like people on cell phones or distracted by the bikinis.
Nobody is perfect for sure.....and yes locals do stupid stuff.......but usually not stupid tourist stuff.
You are right. I have never heard of a tourist deciding to wrestle alligators in Pandora's parking lot.
I see all types of behavior here, which I would classify as death wishes. Most are inexperienced bicycle riders.
KathyDW, I don't know everyone living in SoWal, but I can go to the Red Bar and tell you with 95% accuracy, who is a tourist. I could probably increase that accuracy to 99% after being there for one hour. Around town, my accuracy would decrease, but I think I could still get 75% accuracy. Many times, it is about habit. People are creatures of habit, and if someone runs, they usually run in the same area, not changing routine too much. A local running in the road around here is very rare, and will stand out like a sore thumb, and won't continue to do that too long.
