That venerable institute of culinary perfection known as the Varsity (or the Greasy-V if you attended Ga Tech) turned 80 today and is having a big celebration.
GTTBM and I responded to the call of "Whatdayahave?" and went down this morning to pay homage and partake.
They had a pretty interesting old car show going on (GTTBM really wanted the 1933 LaSalle) live music and FREE ICE CREAM!. 97.1 The River FM was there as well.
We also saw that big international celebrity, star of television and radio, Scotty Mayfield.
Frank Gordy's (the founder) daughter runs the V now and she was there being interviewed by the DJ from 97.1.
Being the delicate flowers that we are, we dined inside and purchased a dainty, but traditional meal (see picture below.) We also got a couple of nice T-Shirts. (I think its the first time I ever purchased a nonfood item there.) After eating we waddled back to our car, sated, happy and slightly sticky.
All in all, it was quite a moving experience. (Based on my multi decade experience of eating at the V, it will continue to be a moving experience for a day or so.)
