I have been going to the Varsity since I can remember. Daddy and Mr. Gordy were business friends. Mom and Dad always bought our tires at Gordy Tire.

When we were kids, it was a status symbol to see how many "numbers" (the ID of the waiter at the drive-in that was placed on your windshield) you could collect. Then in high school, we girls would go to the Varsity in hopes of picking up cute Tech boys. There weren't too many of those. "The odds are good, but the goods are odd."

Mom always took us to the Varsity as a treat if we behaved ourselves at the pediatrician (Dr. Davenport). He normally had to sit on me to give me a shot. But she'd take us anyhow.

My all-time favorite (calories disregarded):
2 chili dogs with mustard, no onions
Fried onion rings with lots of ketchup
A large frosted orange (always hard to get that last inch or so out of the cup)
A fried peach pie with ice cream

Nope. But I know how to get you sleep like a baby. We napped all afternoon. We were going to lounge by the pool and could never muster up the energy to mosey up the walk to get there. :rotfl:

I always frequented the V in Athens. We walked to the one on Milledge Ave. from my high school, for Friday lunch. The guy at the counter would never put onions on my burger despite my request. I finally asked him why he always left them off. He just grinned and said he always knew when I walked in all giggling and flighty that I had a big date that night and you just don't put onions a girls burger on date night. Bless his heart. Being flighty had nothing to do with my love life.

By the way BR, the odds got better over time. Or at least I think they did. ;-)

 for them. I remember the first time I went. I was totally freaked out b/c I did not have any help from a "regular". I made it through the order process and the food was yummy!!!

I agree with IBD! The one and only day I've been there was a Tech game day (betcha can't guess who they were playing that day :D), so the Varsity was slammed, more than usual. Fortunately, I had advance warning of their different perspective on public relations...:rotfl: and the food was grayt.

Of particular interest were the directions to the ladies' room. My niece and I followed the signs and wound up outside. :funn:

The exact Varsity-eeze for placing the order is:
Naked steak
Glorified Bacon
Chili Dog
Bag o Rings
Bag o Fries
F.O.
Diet Coke
and a peach pie
I had my money in my hand and my order in my mind when I got to the counter.

The would actually be a "nekkid steak"
My favorite order tho is "nekkid dog walking'
I love, love, love the V

I hear ya. Beach Jacket has definitely found herself a keeper at Georgia Tech. They are in love. We really like him, too.:clap:He will be with her in SoWal this week.

Rub it in. :D

I loved the Varsity! Quite an experience! CHILI DOG & ONION RINGS!

There was a baby V built about 8 miles from my house off of Peachtree Industrial & Jimmy Carter.....I always wished I'd gone there for a "fix" :sosad:

I am so hungry and DARN...I have to go have brunch at Fire instead......I hate that :lie:
