I'm not trying to be sarcastic or start a riot, but at what point during the last 8 years has the republican party shown any of those values?
EXACTLY my point - Bush has shattered those republican values and what I do not get is why are more Republicans not really angry as hell???

How do you know they are not angry as hell? Remember, there is a silent majority somewhere. I used to think the far right was the minority, I am hoping it still is...but, they have sure found their voice. Are there any Democrats that are angry as hell at their party and not at the Republicans? If we can get all these angry people to defect to the new party, wouldn't that be wonderful?

After watching the speeches...and listening to the results of a poll about the makeup of the delegates...it appears that one must not only be Christian but white and married to be Republican. Interesting.

Obama’s Blind Spot on Race and Character
By Frances Rice
(full article)
..."Obama, following in the footsteps of his white ancestors, is also part of the Democratic Party that: (1) fought to keep blacks in slavery; (2) started the Ku Klux Klan to lynch and terrorize Republicans—black and white; (3) passed the discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws; (4) fought every piece of civil rights legislation from the 1860's to the 1960's; and (5) attacked Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and other civil rights protesters with skin-burning fire hoses and vicious dogs.

While hiding the racist past of the Democratic Party, Obama refuses to give credit to the Republican Party that: (1) started in 1854 as the anti-slavery party and fought to free blacks from slavery; (2) amended the Constitution to grant blacks freedom, citizenship and the right to vote; (3) started the NAACP to stop the Democrats from lynching blacks; (4) passed the civil rights laws of the 1860's that were overturned by the Democrats when they took over Congress in 1892; (5) founded the HBCUs; (6) started affirmative action enforcement in 1969 to help blacks get jobs and contracts based on merit; and (7) fought the Democrats for over six decades until Republicans finally achieved passage of the civil rights laws of the 1950's and 1960's under the leadership of Republican Senator Everett Dirksen of Illinois."...

The conservative Republicans who are actively following poliTRICKS are indeed, mad as hell, that their party has shifted to the center on many issues. I just think it is too difficult for either party, leaning to hard away from center, won't be elected. They know they have to govern from the center. That is why I'm so surprised that they put Obama on the ticket. It will be interesting to see if the govern-from-the-center rule of thumb changes in the outcome of the Nov. election.

I like it! As my son tells me often when I am ranting about some issue: Mom, Common Sense is not very Common these days!

Seriously, I think there are many in the country who would relish the idea of a more moderate party. This extremism--no matter where it is coming from--is tiresome.

Yes, I agree.

I just read an interesting Op/Ed piece in the Washington Times by Bruce Fein on Unaddressed Issues....can't seem to get my link to work...I am my first cup too.
But, it addresses so much that isn't being talked about by the Republicans or Democrats.

That's the ticket, right there, no? They hold the cards on what they want to discuss as issues and cram it down our throats using fear and intimidation. I am not saying that what they discussing are not real issues facing us, but do they really listen to us?

:bang:...I need a moment to lose it.
