I have a theory that always gets folks upset. Sunscreen causes cancer. I have never and will never put the stuff on. I also do not put it on my children. My wife does not believe my theory so she makes the kid wear it.

This seems to always stir people up but I truly believe Sunscreen is horrible!

The first article I read, I totally agree with. It is true that vitamin D is essential to prevent many cancers. In my research on colon cancer, which I have, I have found that research shows many of us are low in vitamin D on diagnosis. The right levels of Vitamin D actually helps prevent recurrances for us. The recommendation is to spend 15 minutes in the sun w/ most skin showing w/in an hour of noon. It may spare other cancers, but it doesn't help w/ melanoma.

The other item mentioned were artifical fragrances and synthetic chemicals. Remember these items are found in shampoos, detergent, deoderant, lotions and many others. It is the main reason our family has gone totally organic in this area. IT is by far more expensive, but I have to think that I am sparing my children from the harmful effects of this stuff. Good post Bobby J.

It seems we all spend a lot of time and energy wondering and looking for where all this cancer is coming from. If you look at the ingredients of what you eat and put on your body the answer should become pretty clear. I am by no means an extremist just not sure I believe everything the FDA says is ok for you.

This article is about sunscreens that don't have UVA protection. However many do now. Look for the ones that say something about full spectrum protection or helioplex. They are getting more common.

I read the links & they were talking about UVA protection.

We actually use an organic sunscreen with zinc oxide, although my children look like aliens from the light purple tint on their skin. Plus, we don't go out to the beach in the heat of the day, if we can help it. This summer, they spent 6 weeks in swimming lessons, so they got darker than I'd ever seen them, but never burnt.
