The problem is how Obama used this phrase and the connection and connotation that he was making (either mistakenly or on purpose). One of the most famous lines from Palin's speech at the convention was the Hockey Mom/Lipstick line. It was obvious to his supporters what Obama was inferring when he used the "lipstick on a pig" phrase (they stood up, laughed and cheered) and it was obvious that the media "got it" (its been on MSNBC, CNN and Fox all morning).
The bottom line is that Obama either made a mistake or was trying to be too clever. The McCain campaign saw an openning and took it (Obama would have done the same).
The end result is that Obama wasted at least 24 or 48 hours of his campaign fending off sexism charges ...... just like Hillary wasted a lot of time in South Carolina fending off racism charges.
When I first heard this, before all of the hoopla about it today, I thought it was intentional, not just because of what he said, but the tone in his voice & the smirk on his face. He has been thrown off track by her popularity & it has dethroned him & he does not like it. He does need to get back to the issues.
omg, I somehow missed this one - never heard it!
