Drive on up to Estes Park, have tea at the Stanley Hotel (especially if you like old cars and are a fan of the movie, The Shining) and visit Rocky Mt National Park..beautiful.

Have you lived in Denver Miss Kitty?

No, but my Granny, Aunt, Uncle and cousins lived there (Aurora) for a time. I have wonderful memories of Elitches...the rides and the frozen custard. Cherry Creek mall and the toy store with the ride on the roof. And trips up to Estes Park and staying in the Y camp. Good times.

How about you?

Agree. Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park is wonderful.
If you go to Boulder, have dinner at the Flagstaff House. It is one of the top restaurants I have ever been to. Expensive but a fabulous evening.

The Y camp is wonderful. I attended a seminar there a few years ago; it is so beautiful in the snow. One of the highlights of the seminar was that Dennis Weaver, the actor, and his wife were in the same seminar. I had loved watching Gunsmoke as a child; it was a real treat to get to know him.

My honey grew up in Denver, and he says....if you like to shop, go to 16th Street Mall downtown or Cherry Creek. If you like Thai food, go to Thai Basil; if you like Mexican food and don't mind paying a little more for it, go to Tamayo; for touristy Mexican, Casa Bonita; for real Mexican, El Chapultapec. He says the Museum of Natural History/zoo/City Park are wonderful. The Saturday morning farmers' market at Cherry Creek is fantastic! If there's a concert at Red Rocks, go!

Rockies vs. Diamondbacks Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday afternoon. Tickets easy and cheap to get. Zoo is really good. Denver Art Museum. Farmer's Market in Boulder on Saturday morning. Boulder is fun to walk around and shop in. Rocky Mountain National Park is about 1 1/2 hours away. Good wildlife viewing, although it got snow yesterday. Drive west on I-70 for some great mountain scenery. About 1 hour up I-70 is the small historic mining town of Georgetown. From Georgetown, take the road across Guenella Pass for beautiful views of the back side of Mt. Evans and Mt. Bierstadt. You can make a loop and come back to Denver via 285. Stop and check out Red Rocks on the way back.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I have been to Estes Park (and stayed at the Y) and Colorado SPrings before but little IBD has not. We may head North and take a day trip.

I know the Museum is a must for sure.

Thanks again, I knew I could count on SoWal!
