Denver bound ~ What to do?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I have been to Estes Park (and stayed at the Y) and Colorado SPrings before but little IBD has not. We may head North and take a day trip.

I know the Museum is a must for sure.

Thanks again, I knew I could count on SoWal!

You can find restaurant reviews. My brother lives in Denver, and has taken us to Table 6 (http://www.table6denver.com/ ) and Carmine's on Penn ( http://www.carminesonpenn.net/ ). Table 6 is more upscale and Carmine's, while $$ has huge portions.

He also took us to the Cherry Cricket which is burgers and such, and plenty of tvs. http://www.cherrycricket.com

All were excellent.

Has anyone been to the Denver Aquarium and also the Atlanta Aquarium? After going to the Atl one I don't know if I will be disappointed or not. The ATL is just that good.

Rockies game... Someone else mentioned that. I had to Google who the Rockies were. Baseball is not my fave sport.

I know we are going to pikes peak and royal gorge. Does anyone think it is too cold for white water rafting this time of year??

I don't think it's too cold for rafting now, but it might be out of season and a moot point.

If you have the time, a day trip to Summit County for a day of hiking could be very cool. Depending on where you go, it's less than a 2 hour drive from Denver and you'll get to see a variety of things (including the buffalo herd, old gold mines, historic towns, go through long tunnels) as you drive.

Some of the ski areas run the chairlifts or gondolas during certain days of the summer so you can ride up and get a cool view, then walk around on top of the mountain, then take a chairlift back down.

The Georgia Aquarium is consistently ranked in the top 3 of the country, Denver is not in the top 10. Therefore if your time is limited, certainly other attractions that you will not see anywhere but Denver might be more appealing. It is a very good aquarium just not on the level with the one in Atlanta.

Drive west on I-70 for some great mountain scenery. About 1 hour up I-70 is the small historic mining town of Georgetown. From Georgetown, take the road across Guenella Pass for beautiful views of the back side of Mt. Evans and Mt. Bierstadt. You can make a loop and come back to Denver via 285. Stop and check out Red Rocks on the way back.

Guenella Pass...how about Pearl Pass going from Aspen to Crested Butte. Now that is a FUN trip! One of my favorite fall trips...but need a bit more than a rental car to make it through.
