If he'll wait until he takes office to start his presidency....

No matter who was president elect I would hope they used this tranisition time to be ready for office. I think he should be setting up his cabinet and getting ready before the inaugauration. With the issues in front, of him why not use this time to prepare instead of waiting until after Bush leaves? I would expect McCain to do that as well. I would hope so anyway.

He made it clear there is "only one president at a time and its not him". Would it be better for him to kick back and do nothing until January and figure it all out then?

There is also talk of a national holiday for Obama in Kenya. This makes sense to me and seems appropriate...

Obama is Kenyan? I thought he was Hawaiian. Or Indonesian. Or, hmmmm.

Anyway, I'm certainly not going to stand in the way of a Kenyan celebration...

EDIT: One last thing- you should really consider alternative news/information sources.

Geo, I'm very well read in a very wide variety of sources and your condescending remark while not appreciated, was expected.

Obama is a mutt, like you find at the pound. At least that is what he told the press regarding their search for a new dog. So, in Hawaii, Obama would be a poi dog, which might include Hawaiian, Kenyan, Indonesian, etc.

Thank you Geo, especially for posting the Kansas civil rights group information. Your summary reflects the way I have read things as well. Weekly meetings at a McDonald's in Topeka does not a national movement make. :D

But it is interesting that others can have such a completely different take -- and I'm not saying it's wrong, really, since a significant number of people see it that way as well.

I agree that we all should be reading a wide variety of viewpoints and look at each of our sources with a jaundiced eye. We all certainly have our favorites and comfort zones, but I always find it helpful to read something new, and not dismiss it because of perceptions of its validity.

I can understand why the word "rule" would rub people the wrong way, but I don't believe it was meant that way. I'm not worried. Not yet, anyway.

But I thought he was our first African-American President.

CCK, my remark was written without an ounce of intended or implied condescension. I went back and edited my edit once again- without the intention of attacking or being condescending.

I have a feeling that if you expect what I write to be an attack (or condescending) that you end up with your own self fulfilling prophecy.

So how's about you give me (and others who disagree with you) the benefit of the doubt before you read our words and then they might seem more like they were intended-

without malice, without attack, without condescension
