Well, Mermy, Mr. DD's boss DID say they build 'em to break. So, my guess is, eventually they'll all break down...and we'll all be cussing. One thing's for sure, I won't be using the self-clean mode again. It'll be easy off for me from now on. That's what I originally intended to rant about. They don't build things to last any more. Just to be replaced a few short years later. Dammit. :bang:

I agree with you. They don't build anything like they used to. Our condo has the original 1985 fridge and though the color is outdated, it's the coldest best fridge I've seen in decades! If I could drag it back to Indy I'd do it in a heartbeat. The shiny new stainless behomoth I have in my kitchen is fine, but it doesn't hold a candle to it. (btw, this reminds me: did you ever get Mr DD to go for a beer fridge????)

NO!!! I need to remind him. But, I better wait til the shock of the oven repair wears off!!

I know what you mean about the fridges of yesteryear. My uncle had one at Holly Beach that was from the 50's and it was still going strong when Rita blew the smithereens out of HB. It was great--big, lots of room and cold!

I've learned many things from my DD....my favorite being...

sonofab!tch!! :cuss:

That really sux, big time. I told you I tried to clean the kondo oven and it set the fire alarm off. :bang: That little self cleaning time saver must have been invented by a man with a warped sense of humor. :angry:

Will the guy you cussed out come fix your oven? :lol:

....Looks like I'll be calling the repair guy back and eating my cuss words.
Then, I'll go buy Easy-off.
:bang::bang::bang:

Recipe for revenge:

1) Call the repair guy back.

2) Go buy the Easy-off.

3) Have the repair guy bend over to reinspect the inside of your oven.

4) Open a can of Crisco.

5) Hold the can of Easy-off in one hand, while applying the Crisco to the Easy-off can with your other hand.

6) Advise the repair guy to hold still as he may feel some pressure.

Repeat as needed.

If he questions why you are doing this, just let him know you are returning the favor.

You may want to search Ebay for the control board.

Also 4 hours at 500+ degrees seems excessive for any electronic device. Don't set it for 4 hours, I don't know why the things go over 1 hour. If after an hour you can't get it out with a sponge then it's just not coming out.

I hope so, otherwise, I'll have to pay another $60 bucks to someone else and start the whole process over again. That would involve more cussing. :shock:

Wow, Kenny....are you sure you're in the right profession?:lol:

I looked at ebay for the oven--but will check for the board.
Yeah, y'all are probably right about the prolonged high heat. Can't be good.

Oh my gosh! Now, I'm really pissed off. I just finished reading about two hours worth of complaints against the company that manufactured my oven. It seems I'm not the only one with this problem!! :bang:
And, it also seems that the company refuses to make their product good, even if it's in warranty.
I sooooo hope someone files a class action against them and they are forced to repay the millions of $$ people have paid for parts and repairs (many times repeatedly on the same appliance!)
Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!:pissed::pissed::pissed::pissed::pissed:
