the cleanse really IS all about the bowel, small intestine, enabling proper nutrient absorption, etc. That's why it ends up being all about the poop - a true detox. I'd be interested in hearing other explanations that doesn't involve "waste material."

Our daughter's nanny used to drink kerosene for a cleansing. She called it her "working medicine." She said (not in the words) that it made her digestive system "work." My guess is both ends of it.:yikes:

Just when I thought the "poop" thread couldn't get any worse.

Did it ever occur to you that Nanny was just a hardcore alcoholic?

So, I'm thinking of trying a cleanse. The idea was sparked when someone sent me a link to Gwyneth Paltrow's super self-reverential blog for laughs. Still, the cleanse she recommends sounds a bit more humane than the master cleanse. http://goop.com/newsletter/15?utm_source=Goop+Newsletter&utm_campaign=44fffb3adb-Goop15_01_01_2009&utm_medium=email

Has anyone tried a good cleanse?

And why, for the love a all that is good, don't one of our fabulous local juiceries put together a cleanse package....because honestly, without a personal chef, I think it would be difficult to do one of these!

I want to know what Skunky says about the cleanse.

A waste of money. If by 'cleanse' you mean relieve constipation one need look no further than the produce department. If by 'cleanse' you hope to eliminate some mysterious toxin, parasite or vile substance from the gut in an effort to restore balance or promote better health, you are falling prey to scientifically unsubstantiated quackery.

What if I'm looking to cleanse all the fat cells off my arse? Can you give me some magic juice? It doesn't need to work quickly--I have about 40 hours before my mini-vacation. And I need to make sure that it doesn't inhibit my chocolate intake.
