Actually it was a Marmoset, but it looks like a Monkey. A very good friend of mine has become the owner of one after the Marmosets owner passed away last week. So today she brings it over to my house for me to see him. You know how much I love animals right? Well, here we were standing in my living room. She, her husband, my son, her daughter and my husband were standing there. The Marmoset was sitting on her shoulder and her husband and my son and husband were standing right beside her. Well, guess who the little Shi* decided to attack and bite? ME!!!! He jumped on my friends husbands shoulder then jumped on mine and I just stood there, in a split second it latched on to the inside and outside of my ear and chomped down. I now have several puncture wounds. I bled like a stuffed pig, and did I mention it hurt like HE$$. Still does. Thank God it has had it's vaccinations.

I had just told her yesterday that I done some research on them and I told her they could be very aggressive. I suppose it sensed my fear when it attacked. I am glad though that it was me that he bit, had it been anyone else, it might not be alive right now. Anyway, so now I can say I have actually been bit by a monkey. Never thought I would say that in my lifetime!!!

I hope you all have had a wonderful VD Day. I am going back to my wine now to dull the pain!

Holy Monkey Jaws, Darlene!! I bet you'll remember this VD for a long time!! Glad you're ok. I can't even begin to think what I would have done.

I am so sorry this happened to you! Please make 1000% sure that the animal has had all of its shots, especially in light of your friend having just acquired it. Friend or no friend, find out if she had it vaccinated, or the previous owner.

We would hate for something bad to happen to you.

:rotfl:...first, I am sorry but that monkey jaws jsut made me split a gut.

Darlene......that has to be the freakiest thing, ever! One, that you had a monkey in your HOUSE and two...it bit you! Did you slap the little sheet?

Do you have a hankerin' for bananas and climbing yet?

BR is correct...I'd call the dr. and find out what he says.

I googled animal bites. Apparently even if an animal's vaccinations are current, their saliva contains bacteria that can cause infections. You need to be on an antibiotic. Here is a list of pathogens in a primate's mouth:
  • Bacteroides species
  • Fusobacterium species
  • Eikenella corrodens
  • Streptococcus species
  • Enterococcus species
  • Staphylococcus species
  • Enterobacteriaceae
  • Simian herpes virus

:rotfl::rotfl:Poor Darlene. We're not taking this near as seriously as BR.

Well, that jsut put a whole new spin on things. BR, I'm sure if you google pathogens in a human mouth, you'll see just about the same stuff-with the exception of the simian herpes virus. And, in the case of CC, probably some stuff we don't wanna know.

Forgive me, I'm jsut a little PUI.

:funn:Holy Monkey Jaws!!!!! I was kind of in shock DD, it happened pretty fast. My friends husband grabbed him, and it bit him on the finger as well. They had a crate for it and he quickly put it in the crate. It will be memorable that is for sure!

Thank you BR. I am going to make double sure, but she did say the woman's sister told her that he was vaccinated. I will make sure I see the paperwork that she got.

I am glad you got a laugh at my expense. I went to grab the little sheet and unhook him from ear but before I could Johhny (my friends husband grabbed him). No nanner craving or climbing yet.

I am going to call the doctor and see what he says though, just for my own piece of mind!!!!

:yikes:
Aren't monkey brains considered a delicacy somewhere? I love animals, but for some reason monkeys give me the heebeejeebies. Probably because when I was a kid we went to Jungle Habitat in the days of vinyl roof cars. All I remember were monkeys all over our car-- peeling apart the roof and screaming. (Jungle Habitat closed soon after) Bless your heart for not turning it into a dashboard stuffy and feel better.
