I'm glad to know that you know the mind of God the Son. I was always taught that He cared more about the life to come and the salvation of souls. You're no theologian.:rotfl:

I cited Cameroon's literacy rate because Bob said they were poor, uneducated africans.

The Pope cannot teach error in matters of faith and moral values. Remember the doctrine of infallibility granted him by God the Holy Spirit in these areas defined at Vatican I from your religion class? If he does, he's not the Pope. Cathechism basics. The Church is protected in these areas. As a non-believer, i don't expect you to be able to "wrap your mind around it".

As far as my thought process goes...well I guess you were trying to insult me? I hope I'm not making you angry. The school yard thing was a joke from one Catholic School kid to another.......
whodat1, you are the perfect catholic!

define "a few" please. how do you compare "racism" with the most powerful christian church in the world?

Child molestation may not be an official part of Catholicism, but that's like saying fighting isn't an official part of the game of ice hockey.

That's a horrible thing to say. I will not go here again.

In the spirit of sport, let's continue.

I'm not on a crusade to bash religion but feel compelled when religion becomes dangerous. I wish people would wake up to the absurdity of listening to superstitious old white men on areas of science, medicine, finanace, sexuality, etc.

The pope has power and when he uses it irresponsibly (preaching against condoms) and people die-

well, that is an outright sin...

geo - I am catholic. I love the church. but, I must say I agree with every word you have written. your words do seem harsh at first, but I hear what you are saying and feel it to be truth. I have always felt that I can be catholic and make my own decisions about what I think is right in life (contrary to what many of my catholic family members would say or feel). when you start to think your church is infallible is when religion becomes dangerous. the church may say the pope is infallible, but most of us know better. so, thank you.

the Pope should use his considerable influence more effectively. as I stated before, I respect the beliefs of the church and don't expect them to "update" them to suit this century. these guys are total scholars with huge brains - and they do appreciate and support the advancement of science (though they do have issues with some science advances when human life is effected - and I respect this). it seems they could be more "jesus like" in their dealing with the people of the church. but, I guess that would be too buddhist-like.

It really is horrible. But talking about it isn't the problem. Not talking about it is.

That what happens when Belief takes presidence over, and hides and camoflages the Truth. I prefer to call it a symptom of ALL dis-organized religions of the world, not just the Catholic Church....it's the proverbial 2,000 pound elephant that no one notices or wants to admit to.

Does God know how untruthful we can be, inside and outside of his houses.?:dunno: Is man's innate desire to connect upward, through and with God in real intellectual honesty, now the real Devil in our modern world? I really think so.

that's the spirit, run, do not confront the unpleasant. the church has the power to evolve and change, but that same power insulates it from any and all criticism. tell the the unwashed to not have sex or birth control and jet back to your golden palace.

Good, Tootsie! I have great compassion for Catholic congregants. You are the backbone of the Catholic Church. It's hard to be a catholic; and, then to be ridiculed for the catechism has to be difficult. I think it's difficult based upon the man-made laws as well as how unwavering the Pope is regarding those issues.

And, then there's Mother Teresa, who was dang near perfect! MWAH~~~~

I went to a Catholic school and none of my classmates have followed the catechism. But, they love being Catholic and I have a lot of respect for thier beliefs. ;-)

I already addressed this issue. I'm not running to any golden palace . You're trying to pick a fight. Its absurd. I can talk until I'm blue in face. It doesn't change your perspective.
