How do you feel about North Korea launching large missiles and/or rockets? Do you think they have the technologies to build and place into orbit a satellite that could carry a nuclear warhead across intercontinental ranges.

Are you worried about this or not?

If so why do you think the US turns a blind eye? Just wondering what y'all thought. I read an article about it today.

Honestly I am hoping Il Jong Idiot dies before they spend any more money faking launches and building nukes while millions starve and risk their lives to escape across the border.

The US isn't turning a blind eye, just being realistic about their capabilities and calling their bluffs.

Satellite/spcae station is a far cry, but it isn't that far-fetched to be able to launch something to hit the West Coast.

Any leader whose country possesses nukes along with ICBM delivery capabilities can make a simple calculation: if I send a nuke that hits the US, my country will be obiterated from the face of the Earth (I assume Obama thinks this but not sure). So, no reason to worry about NK. Besides they will do nothing without approval from China and China needs us. As crazy as we think Iran is, they are capable of making the same calculation. As much as I worry about Iran nuking Israel, again, Iran knows what the result would be.

What I worry about are terrorists bringing nukes into the US inside backpacks, or sent via FedEx or launched via a floating platform off the US coast. We have proven as a country that we do not have the will to go after terrorists on whatever soil they happen to be on. Three thousand dead in NYC did not give us lasting conviction. We would be upset at a couple of hundred thousand dead because of a terrorist nuke attack but my guess is the masses would soon shrug their shoulders and utter things like: what can you do?

...I'm a "Cold War Kid"...intercontinental ballistic missiles are old hat--now, if they're building a "Battle Star or Death Ray," well that's a whole new kettle of fish.

The masses......"What can we do?" :dunno:

...This is what they told us back then--hope this gives you some peace of mind:

YouTube - Atomic Alert, Elementary Version (1951)

:clap:I love this old video....now I'm headed out for some concrete blocks! So, really I guess we along the coast are as prepared as anyone, as they appeared to do the exact things we do when a hurricane is coming, except evacuate. Thanks SHELLY I feel much better now.

Do you think someone who has a deep hatred for the US and everything it stands for cares what will happen to himself or his country. Just take a look at Osama Bin Laden who hates the very ground we walk on. Do you actually think he is threatened by what the US might do in retaliation....and of course HE is still out there. His strong belief that he is doing what Allah tells him to do would cause him to set off nuclear warheads if he had them with no thought about what would be coming back at them.

Did we go after him with everything we had after 911.....NO! And I can just bet at this very moment he eats, drinks, and sleeps with getting to Americans and cutting us off at the knees.

I just hope Obama has a third eye in the back of his head!

Can anyone be 100% sure that leaders with capabilities are afraid of what America might do in retaliation. It only takes one!!! As far as China needing us just might turn out to be false security.

Just like those pictures that popped up yesterday about North Korea having a missile about to be tested this country is run by F E A R. How does one keep another under control.......fear based actions!!!

I make no claim to know a whole lot about this and tend to speculate, but there are times when gut instinct is worth more then all the news out of Washington and news reporters on cable!

No blind eye here. We would have time to intercept.

Same here, never been concerned about Il Jim Kim (what's his name?). Am more concerned about terrorists on our own soil, too. Israel has an amazing military as she have proved for the last 50 years! Interesting that every Israelite has to enlist in their Army for at least two years I think? Then, go to university. And, no aircraft hijackings since they started placing armed marshalls on every plane in full uniform.
