Darlene - what a scary aftenoon! you seem to deal with a scary situation with calm courage and rational common sense, and a little humor mixed in after all is said and done and everyone is safe. so glad everyone is okay!

my mom still calls us 4 grown kids and tells us to seek shelter. last weekend I was in a cabin at St Joseph State Park in the middle of nowhere and she was calling telling us to seek shelter but we barely had any weather - apparently it looked like we were in severe weather on the weather maps. moms!

Glad your okay, you seem very calm so we know it didn't affect the Miller Lite distributor.

I lived in the Midwest (Kansas City) for 13yrs, tornado alley. Went through various tornado warnings while I lived there. But when one is spotted the sirens go off. You grab what's important, dogs,$$$,id, a drink, and you go down the basement. But here a closet will have to do. A tornado is very scary and unpredictable.
Glad they made it ok.

Last night a tornado touched down a couple of miles from my family. My cousin owns a convenience store that was totally destroyed. My sister said everything was leveled to about knee high. Thank God it was closed and no one was there. Everyone that works there is family. Mom said it was very emotional to see such destruction so close to home. Most of my family, sister, cousins, brother, aunts, uncles live within 2 miles.

I'm sorry to hear that...I was watching the news carefully Friday evening because the storms were headed toward my house, too (I was on vacation.) Nothing but a bit of hail at home, but I have lots of friends around Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Saturday morning on the Today show, a woman was telling about her experience--she didn't know the weather was so bad, and barely had time to get herself and her family into a closet before the roof came off her house. The interviewer, Lester Holt, asked her what her thoughts were when she saw what had happened, and she said, "Life can change in an instant, and life is precious."

It was hard to find anything else to say after that.
