They didn't buy & then throw their expensive tea in the harbor - they first refused to allow them to unload the tea, then when the governor wouldn't send the ships away w/ the unwanted tea, they crept aboard the ship dressed as Indians and destroyed the tea by throwing it in the harbor.

They didn't randomly destroy something to pitch a fit, they took further action when their initial attempts were thwarted.

I know. But, they were determined to be heard and certainly got their point across. It took that drastic a measure to do so.................BECAUSE no one would listen to the people. Shake 'em up a bit.

I hope yesterday wasn't about anti-President......however, for some it probably was. Pity!

Cheers~~~~~~~~

In all fairness to some of those that attended, does everyone feel their voices are being heard all the time? Even if you write or call your Representatives, do you always get the responses or results you hoped for?

Having said that, what prompted people to also come out was the fact that they feel a lack of transparency in spending, and that eventually, the middle class will have to be taxed higher in order to compensate. This, and proposed taxes like the Cap and Spend to regulate emissions, or as the Right are calling it, the Light Switch Tax. There have been numbers tossed around by the Right of costs to families of between $1800-$3600 a year when in reality, it may cost still cost an average of $85 per family until the program ramped up around 2015. The Republicans also put out a press release that it will pay for "nationalized health care" and eventually changed it on their web site.

With misinformation like this floating around it only serves to fuel the ire about our economic quandary. These are times where we must work with our Country to solve our issues, not against it. Pandering officials like Perry aren't helping.

No, I don't always feel like I am heard. Particularly when I compose a letter and I receive a form letter in response (most likely written by an intern, but not claiming this as always the case).

Can we talk about these "angry white men" I keep reading about here? It seems to be a reoccuring theme with some. Is that what some of you (you know who you are :D) call Republicans?

Another question...was that the top 5% of wage earners out and about at the tea parties, yesterday?

I drove past one of these events last night. I don't think progressives have anything to fear. The average age there was about 74. Each was carrying an American flag that had a "Made in China" sticker affixed.

Last night's local news reported that the group in Bay County which held the tea party, has been doing so on April 15, for several years, so it wasn't just an Obama protest if that was the case.

I have no problem with people gathering for a tea party. I just think it is a joke if you think it is a meaningful way in which to show gov't that you protest their actions. What next? You've had a tea party. What was government's response?

No, they were too busy working to pay the Federal Gov't. They work from Jan - April (at the minimum) each year for the gov't.

I am waiting for the scandal to break about it being a ploy for folks to profit on tea. Tea lobbyists in bed w/ Fox News, Rupert buying a tea plantation etc.

The few that were of working age that I saw most likely repair the roofs for the top 5% types. They were the proxies for these 5% who were at the rooftop restaurant having a cocktail and watching it all happen below.

Ain't gonna happen, Scooterbug. The local news reporting on Bay County tea party, noted that the 300-400 people who showed, had made only 4 gallons of tea to drink while protesting.

I'm just wondering how many showed up, thinking it was a different kind of tea bag.
