In all fairness to some of those that attended, does everyone feel their voices are being heard all the time? Even if you write or call your Representatives, do you always get the responses or results you hoped for?
Having said that, what prompted people to also come out was the fact that they feel a lack of transparency in spending, and that eventually, the middle class will have to be taxed higher in order to compensate. This, and proposed taxes like the Cap and Spend to regulate emissions, or as the Right are calling it, the Light Switch Tax. There have been numbers tossed around by the Right of costs to families of between $1800-$3600 a year when in reality, it may cost still cost an average of $85 per family until the program ramped up around 2015. The Republicans also put out a press release that it will pay for "nationalized health care" and eventually changed it on their web site.
With misinformation like this floating around it only serves to fuel the ire about our economic quandary. These are times where we must work with our Country to solve our issues, not against it. Pandering officials like Perry aren't helping.
