Conservatives fear change and progress, and ultimately fear that path of "progression" toward their own deaths. Liberals accept and embrace the new, the next steps in the logical progression of life, including their own deaths. Conservatives are basically selfish. Liberals are basically selfless.

True liberals are truly empathetic. True Conservatives can only attempt to be sympathetic, and only in a phoney sense, and if it will ultimately benefit them in the end.

Conservatives think they will see Aunt Betty, and Mum and Dad, and even other relatives that they don't even like, once in Heaven. Liberals know that once in Heaven they will be a part of the non-ego, part of everyone (in the Universe) and everything that ever lived, and will ever live.

Not to damper the exciting and super-heated chit chit about dollar donations, contributions, and the like.............
I think we need to tun back to my original opinion (see above) to existentially reveal the crux of conservatism. Look to Conservative "seeds" to see from whence this evil came from. It is curable, I have faith Conservatives, go to the Light--do not fear the Light, you will be safe there.

OMC, I can't breathe. You mean a survey was done on blood's political affiliation?
Maybe it was done in only Red States. :funn:

Only seems that way because the truth hurts, and conservatives can dish it out but can't take it. What would you expect from a bunch whose spokesman is a miserable, fat, drug-addicted, impotent radio commentator?:D

See how they are? Can't prove a point or win an argument so they resort to name-calling and insults.

it's because you have dehumanized a person to an adjective

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'll have to learn how NOT to dehumanize people into adjectives - perhaps you Liberals can teach me, since ya'll are so good at it.

Let me dehumanize you with an adjective or two...or three.... hmmm....how about self-serving, delusional and pompous? Gack! See how they are!?!?

I am sure I would be pegged a "liberal" and I can't donate blood w/o literally hitting the floor from blood sugar issues, several other "liberals" I know are banned just because they are gay - even though they have been in committed relationships for years or decades. How much would the blood supply be effected if we allowed gay men to donate w/ the same standard of safe sex as heteros?

The fact that we apparently gather statistics on political affiliation when people donate blood sums up just how dumb and devisive we have become. Well, that and the stupid comments in this thread from BOTH sides about the others.

I don't care who is doing the donating, or the charity work, what their motivations is, or where it is being done, I am just glad it is being done (and wish we did much more). How we treat each other matters much more than political affiliations at the end of the day IMO.

Yeah, the crux of conservatism is the fear of death. It ruins their life and makes them want to drag others down with them.

Also laughable. Stating that conservative decision making is based entirely on faith is a simplistic view and makes it seem like every person with a conservative tendency is a "holy-roller". I'm not surprised though, because, making funn of others faith seems to highlight the elitism that pervades the platform of the new ?progressive? Democratic party.

Although you're waving your Liberal flag high now, I'm sure you probably have some conservative views as well. We all do. The problem is that when talking about Liberal vs. Conservative attitudes, it always end up with the Left arguing points with the Right and vice versa.

Thought and reason should place you somewhere in the middle. If someone is not in the middle, then they are outside the curve... period. Since the great majority of people aren't in the extreme right or left, they are probably just kidding themselves into thinking that they have only conservative or liberal views and they just follow the herd.

Just my 2 cents.

This is not ridicule of anyone's faith, it's a sincere critique of faith in general. I just find it funny that conservatives consider themselves to be bastions of reason and yet they rely so heavily on faith. Don't you consider that odd? It's certainly contradictory. It doesn't leave them much room to criticize empathetic liberals for thinking with their hearts instead of their minds. What gives? :dunno:

Maybe we should spend less time labeling people, and a little more time getting to know each individual personally? Isn't that a basic belief for both of these general groups? Or is there so much hate out there today from the far sides of the poltiical isle that that has become impossible?

I actually laughed when I read this.

Practice what you preach.

- Come on out to a soiree. (The next ones in the fall and will be discussed extensively)
- Go meet a poor black family displaced by Hurricane Katrina. (hint: they're not in SanDestin)
