One problem with this discussion might be that we are talking about oranges and apples. There are religious "conservatives" ie: Mormons, Catholics, Evangelicals and there are "liberals" Episcopal, Methodist,Unitarians.

????????? Could it be possible to be a liberal Catholic or a conservative Methodist? Just asking. I actually do know some and they are not that rare. :D

No problem at all! My husband's family with it's strong German Catholic background are probably 30% "liberal" Catholics.
My family of Methodists tend to be "conservatives" but I am pretty sure my Mom mostly voted Democratic except for 2008. She was 87 and from a small Illinois town, had not experienced much diversity in her life; therefore, I think it would have been too much of a leap of faith for her to vote for a black man. (I imagine if Obama had a different name and white skin, she would have accepted his policies and he would have had her vote. )She just couldn't do it, God love her!
Getting out to vote may have been the last time she left the house before she died in December. And it was very important to her.

Most Liberals drive Volvos, most Coservatives drive Hummers. 'Splains a lot, I think.

:) Well...I'm a Libertarian and I drive a Honda Pilot. I have four children and need room for them plus friends, this was the smallest I could get and be able to fit everyone. My dream car would be a pimped out old volkswagon van but my husband thinks they're dangerous. Going to get one anyway,eventually.;-)

:rotfl:...jsut when I think you have come up with the wildest way to label people, you find another one! Now it's cars! CONSERVatives driving Hummers! :D I drove a Volvo station wagon back in the day....but, I believe it was because they were supposed to be safe, not liberal. Pray tell...what does it say about someone who is driving a 6 year old RX?
