In that same post he said most Catholics are conservatives. Funny since the GOP railed against Catholics in the 60's referring to them as cult members.
And, Kennedy was Catholic.

Just for the record, that was SWGB who made the statement you quoted. http://www.sowal.com/bb/politics-cu...if-youre-liberal-conservative.html#post571110 Our quoting is getting out of synch. But yeah you're all right. For example, much of the northeast is Catholic, liberal, and Democrat. If there is a tendency towards conservatism among Catholics, I don't see it. Most that I've known were fairly liberal.
What do Libertarians drive, mostly? Just curious.
They drive whatever the heck they want to drive, rather than trying to impress their friends in their peer group with the latest and greatest "whatever is cool" these days.![]()

I think the point is that Catholics are RELIGIOUS conservatives for the most part. Any religion that bans female ministers/priests and demands they remain celebate is by definition conservative. That many members vote for liberal Democrats makes my point.
Lucifer, you always try to link conservative politics to religion when the connection often cannot be made. Of course, Lucifer (Satan) is always trying to make religion look bad.:funn::funn::funn:
I now press on with my less government/less taxes crusade.![]()

They would actually be walking b/c they wouldn't want the government wasting money on roads and such. Freedom baby

I have to beg to differ with you, but this is just from my personal experience, which may be diferent from yours. I've known lots of Catholics. Most are what what we call cafeteria Catholics. They pick and choose what rules to follow like food items behind the glass. It's a big country, so if you're going to characterize a religion, your mileage may vary. It's my understanding that one of the places where members take the Catholic dogma the least seriously is in Italy. I even saw an interview of a Vatican priest who thinks it's all a big joke. He may be looking for work.
Of course there is a connection between religion and politics. Conservatives tried to exploit it to win the Presidency. Mission failed. Now I point out that religion contradicts reason because someone on this thread characterizes liberals as "feeling oriented" and conservatives as the rational type. Just pointing out an obvious inconsistency. For the last eight years, the true idealists, Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rice, Rove, Wolfowitz, you know the ones who thought the Iraqis would greet us as liberators? They were idealists, and they were Republicans, and they were conservatives.
