wig

My mom bought several wigs. Some were pretty expensive. But she loved her cheap ones the best. Specifically she loved a cheap one that had a black headband in the very front. (Here is a link to a similar one. Doris, Head Band Wig by Sepia - WOW WIGs.com) She found it the easiest to put on quickly and was the most comfortable one. She didn't have to style it or worry about it slipping. Sometime she's wore other ones but added a hat for the same reason.

Thanks..I went to the wig site and I think I will do this. It looks simple and easy. I don't want something I will need to spend time fussing with so don't want natural hair wig. I have a broad brim hat for the beach and this wig will get me in and out of places without feeling that I have a glowing head..Thanks to all...This forum and site have been my source of support and useful information through all this. Lots of people offer me opinions but I find too few have any knowledge or experience to base their opinons on...Thanks to all..See you at the beach

A good friend of mine went through this over the winter. She only wore hats; she didn't want to mess with a wig. I love the ones that TFT linked, though!

I'm sorry you're facing this. I agree with the advice others have offered--don't go through it alone! My friend Heather was constantly uplifted by her friends, family, and students and it made all the difference. Let people cheer you up even when you don't feel like it!

Everyone has given you great advice, my best friend went through this and her advice was not to try and look like you did before your hair loss. Just get what you like, what is comfortable, some wigs can be very hot in the summer.

Turbans are great, cute caps, she said be sure to have something on your head in the summer, that you definitely don't want a sunburned head.

Sending lots of prayers and hugs.

I agree...plus the cheap ones were the cutest ones! It is amazing what one can do with wigs..They do get hot in the summer...so Mom would only wear hers if she was going out of the house. Otherwise, she would wear a turban-type hat. Losing her hair was traumatic, but amazingly, Mom got the hang of the wigs pretty quickly! Today, she will joke about the fact that she should just throw on a wig and be done with it! I agree...sure looks easy!

starting a 3 month round of chemo on Monday. Any ladies have experience with hair loss from Chemo? How did you handle it? wigs, scarves, ot something else ( a pirate cap and eye patch, perhaps). What advice could you offer? Thank you, thank you...Jennie:dunno:

Jensieblue, a retired co-worker of mine has had to go through chemo twice, once for breast cancer, and then for spots on her lungs. She has some really cute neck length wigs that are very similar to her hairstyle she always wore, she looks good in them. She has worn a couple of hats also, not to mention when her hair grew out a tiny bit she went without anything during the first round of chemo, and it did not look bad. She has kept a very positive outlook and is doing very well. I know you will also.

jensieblue, i am sorry you are having to deal with this, please know we will be thinking about you and praying for you.

I watched my stepmom go threw it about eight or nine years ago and she is still cancer free today. She had a wig made that looked exactly like her hair, it looked great. If I ever had to deal with it I would cut my hair short first, she said it was the hardest thing to watch it fall out. I would buy every hair color and hair style I've ever wanted to have! Heck, y'all know me! I'd even have a pink one!

Hang in there! You can do this!

Hello to all...going in this AM for my second chemo. Hair is gone, gone, gone..No big deal. I found the anticipation was worse than the reality. Have opted as of now to pass on the wig and have ordered something called Headcovers, beautiful colorful wraps that tie in the back. Believe me ladies, it saves a whole lot of getting ready time not to have hair to worry with. Will be down with family for Thanksgiving. They tell me they all plan to find the most outrageous scarves they can to wear. They tell me this is to help distract eyes from me. This is their plan not mine. My daughter's just got back from a weekend atDestin beach. Peyton got to see the ocean for the first time. He loved it...Regards to all the great folks on this site and love to you all...

When my best friend in Indianapolis lost all her hair from chemotherapy I made her a collection of the most outrageous earrings my imagination could conjure up. You might like earrings too, to go with your outrageous head scarves!

:wave:Hi Jensie- Glad you are dealing with the hair loss. Sounds like you are doing pretty well. How are the treatments effecting you? I hope you are tolerating them well and aren't sick a lot. Keep going girl - not too much longer!
