I guess I just don't see what the big deal is.
We have diplomatic relations with them, we sent hundreds of athletes and our President & First Lady to the Olympics in their country, we welcome visitors, students, and immigrants from their country, we gladly trade with them............
IMO there are many more objectionable things we could be focusing on than a light display on a country's 60th anniversary.
I'm just surprised to see you so nonchalant about it. You, the gal who won't shop at Walmart.

But, aside from trade, this is a tributary to a regime change that resulted in many deaths, malnutrition, imprisonment and execution of people who fought against the regime......
Why bother at all? It's one thing if they were hosting the Olympics currently today or we were celebrating Chinese culture or the Chinese New Year-- there is a Chinatown in NYC-- but the 60th anniversary of a government anniversary is sheer stupidity. If they couldn't of thought of anything better, than leave the red, white and blue lights on.

I do agree with you on this one.
