Who's holding the gun stopping them?

The legislation that is being brought to the table is drafted by the dems. The Repubs have brought over 35 proposals to the table only to be totally ignored. YOu are drinking the Obama kool aid if you believe Repubs haven't put any proposals forward. The Dems just don't like the proposals so they never make it through committee.

It's really easy to find this stuff is you care to take a look without buying the lib mantra hook line and sinker that Repubs have offered up no alternatives.

As usual I am very confused regarding politics but one thing I have discovered is no one has really read the Obama health care plan. Either side by the way. I surely have not and have yet to meet anyone that has really read it. But yet, it seems everyone has an opinion of it based on bits of information thrown around in the media...

Won?t add a dime to the deficit and is paid for upfront. The President?s plan will not add one dime to the deficit today or in the future and is paid for in a fiscally responsible way. It begins the process of reforming the health care system so that we can further curb health care cost growth over the long term, and invests in quality improvements, consumer protections, prevention, and premium assistance. The plan fully pays for this investment through health system savings and new revenue including a fee on insurance companies that sell very expensive plans.

I love this part of the Obama plan. Won't add a dime to the deficit in very definitive terms. But, the very next point says--


Requires additional cuts if savings are not realized. Under the plan, if the savings promised at the time of enactment don?t materialize, the President will be required to put forth additional savings to ensure that the plan does not add to the deficit.


How totally ridiculous? Just one example of a poorly laid out plan. Not to mention the public option which he can't even get his own party to agree on.

Thanks Fisher. I will look over this. I have made it common knowledge on these boards that I think Republicans (conservatives) and Democrats (liberals) are all the same. I am very disappointed in my government and have been for a long time. I love my country but feel we have been long "sold down the river" by BOTH parties. I must say looking at the shape of our Health care system I applaud Obama for making some sort of attempt to fix it. I am not clear yet whether this is a good thing or bad thing. I do not trust any of these guys/gals but may be by him simply attempting to fix the mess people are waking up to the fact the system needs help. I think that is something we can all agree upon.

Fair enough. I like the fact that we are discussing this seriously as a country for the first time in 16 years. "The plan" is in constant flux though. It's apparently changing every day, with amendments added and deleted. At least one of the plans have had a high number of Republican amendments added, but I have lost track of which one and it seems impossible to say which will stand and which won't.
