Anybody listening to the interview with Max Cleland on NPR. I just bought his book Heart of a Patriot: How I Survived Vietnam, Walter Reed and Karl Rove. He is on Fresh Air with Terry Gross and it is a very interesting interview.

NPR is about the same as watching paint dry. And I just cant handle not learning anything but liberalism. The NPR days are over Im afraid.

I see you are an openminded individual. Of course I do not agree, I find people with the screamin memmies are oh, so bad for one's blood pressure. But differnces make our world go round. Bless your sweet heart and have a wonderful day. Oh, and I am not one to let others choose for me my preferred source of news coverage. Are you?

You know I have to often hear Sean Hannity's audience tell him "he's a Great America." If he likes his guests he also calls THEM Great Americans...yada, yada.

But....Max Cleland is really a great American you'all.

I have met Max Cleland--he wheeled up in his wheelchair to our group and chatted while we were "all" waiting to get a seat in a popular ATL restaurant ( I think that says a lot right there). When I think of the bad Karma surrounding Karl Rove, and all the people that he has tried to destroy in the past, uncluding, among others, Max Clelan, the late Anne Richards of Texas, and Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson, the definition of a "horrible American" actually comes to mind.

PS. Let's get this out of the way NOW...I listen to MSNBC, NPR, olby, I voted for Obama, I drink kool aid as often as I can--I am all of those things--and-- I am a great American also!

definately not someone that lets others chose for me and im known for it. im very much open minded these days. didnt used to be though. listened to NPR in my office for years actually. but, when i compared it to other radio news just after 911 there was absolutely no comparison. NPR was sooo boring and the lack of info compared to other outlets truly amazed me. just the background and credibility of other outlet hosts spoke volumes. and than theres the actual entertainment value that also doesnt compare. im a talk radio listener for over eight hours a day and cant imagine having NPR in the background these days. I have no beef with them other than their huge bias and lack of productive info, but I do wish my tax money wasnt funding such an org. Ive always wondered why they, like all other outlets cant use the free market and make money like everyone else. heck, the hosts would make a lot more money thats for sure.

I like NPR exactly for their low key approach and their willingness to explore an obscure topic in depth. I couldn't stand to listen to a shock jock or screecher yell at me for eight hours a day.

Are you a southern woman? I note that you did not respond to my "bless your heart" and must then assume you are not aware while that phrase can be used as an expression of warmth. It is much more likely to be used as the ultimate insult and used to avoid ugly speech, much like to avoid getting your gloves dirty. And at bottom line, I truly don't consider your opinion regarding NPR of any value in my life. I listen to it, constantly since I am home bound, learn from it and enjoy the coverage. I am so glad you have the talk show media covered for those of us that prefer to get our news elsewhere. Please refer to my prior posts re health care reform and the Max Cleland book. What coverage have you found on the talk shows on these issues? On health care reform what do they say about those individuals in my situation? What have they had to say about Max Clelands's book? If you are getting in-depth coverage, perhaps we could converse on these isssues

Actually, it's a small part of NPR's budget:

  • 31% from listeners in the form of pledges, memberships, and other donations
  • 20% from businesses via corporate underwriting
  • 11% from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), which is federally funded*
  • 10% from licensee support
  • 9% from foundations and major gifts
  • 5% from local and state governments, and
  • 14% from all other sources.
People do "vote" for this programming, via the 31% and 20% which comes from individuals or businesses which consider having their name associated with NPR to be a good souce of advertising.

But, what I really want to know is, what do you think of Max Cleland? I thought it was a crime the way the GOP machine went after him in his last (losing) campaign. Ann Coulter LIED about his war record, his opponent embarrassed his fellow Republicans (who called on him to STOP the negative campaign, and he refused).

Honestly, the man is in a wheelchair because of what happened to him in Vietnam, and the opposition made him out to be less of a patriot than Saxby Chambliss, who had FIVE student deferments during Vietnam, and finally got a medical deferment because of a FOOTBALL injury.

It's the one reason that if I ever see Karl Rove down on the beach, I might just walk up and sucker punch him.

my friend, youll learn more on hannitys show in a day than you will on NPR in a month. alot of liberals call into his show and learn alot i assure you. i was one of them....

ive met alot of people in life, but that doesnt make them a good person. so because you met max in person he's credible now? i guess i dont get it. sounds like star struck to me.

the left doesnt like rove because he was widely successful. and if you voted for obama, you saw many of roves tactics. the left called them unethical, but used them just the same. fact is, he knows politics and knows how to win elections.

and its ok if you watch mslsd. i monitor news for a hobby....boring i know. i do it for many reasons though, not just because i want to get all sides. but, if you want to learn something on anything and get both sides on a political issue mslsd is the last place you should go. your only doing yourself a disservice. for the first time in this countries history we have a media outlet using the most unethical tactics and bias to push an aggenda for sections of the federal government and thats proven all day long. now you wont here that on mslsd, but the rest of the industry knows this for a certainty and its there for all to see with their own eyes. and than theres the hate thats spewed daily like olby. and than you get history rewritten almost daily. in the end, the ratings tell the story and so do the audience they play too. ill stick with those who want to learn instead of play politics and ill stick with the majority. to each his own...

So you approve of the lies told to defeat Max Cleland, because everybody likes a winner, and winning is all that counts?
