Right here!
Not one of the so-called news networks presents balanced news although there are occasional surprises.

According to Pew (as reported by Fox), coverage slants in the last 6 weeks before the election:

a study by the Pew Research Center showed that 40 percent of Fox News stories on Obama in the last six weeks of the campaign were negative. Similarly, 40 percent of Fox News' stories on Obama's Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain, were negative.

On CNN, by contrast, there was a 22-point disparity in the percentage of negative stories on Obama (39 percent) and McCain (61 percent). The disparity was even greater at MSNBC, according to Pew, where just 14 percent of Obama stories were negative, compared to a whopping 73 percent of McCain stories -- a spread of 59 points.

That pretty much sums it up right there.

This shows that democrats are more balanced since they get their news from a wider variety of sources. Of course, I don't know if you could actually refer to Fox as news, but it is a media outlet that at least pretends to inform the viewer of events taking place in the world. If nothing more it is good for entertainment sort of like rubbernecking at a train wreck. Olby said so. :D

how does it feel to be in denial?

this says nothing about dems or republicans, it says a ton about fox news.

there is absolutely no comparison in coverage between fox and its compeditors, absolutely none. so, if your not interested in being informed and/or knowledgeable than you are only doing a disservice to yourself and your nation.

and at least your willing to admit obly told ya...

What's really sad is that there really is nowhere to get the 'news' anymore. Every site slants it. Fox definitely has a slant to the right, CNN to the left, MSNBC leans so far left that it is basically horizontal. Government sources (BBC, PBS, etc..) have a definite agenda that shows pretty clearly in their reporting.

The only way I've found to deal with it is to get my news from 20-30 major sources around the world and try and synthesize out what the basic facts might be.

It is a know fact that Fox supports and even in some cases actually lays the groundwork/planning of many right wing events, like Tea Bagger Tax/First Amendmant/He Wasn't Born Here parties, and that Labor Day "Return the Power Back to the People" fiasco.

You should be able to watch any of those networks without being unduly swayed if you get your news from enough sources as I do. I find something to disagree with on all networks.

I don't see the basic news being much different among the networks. It's the editorializing, and speculation, and opinion that is different. I don't see a problem with this. I think most progressives would agree, and that's why you see liberal bleed over to Fox News. Progressives tend to get their news largely from the Internet, but tune into infotainment networks like fox, msnbc, and CNN to hear what spin the talking heads put on it. Honestly, Fox news iinfinitely more funny and entertaining when you already know the real story and have had time to form your own opinion.

I know it's a joke. How about Fox claiming the other networks didn't report on the Wash D.C Bagapalooza or whatever they called it? Most of the alleged news on Fox News is about themselves and how they are different from other networks. Reminds me of one of the SoWal posters.:bang:

Pew Survey: Fox News Audience Much More Balanced

I thought this was interesting.

Their annual survey of cable news audiences now shows:
  • FNC: 39% Republican, 33% Democratic, 22% Independent
  • CNN: 18% Republican, 51% Democratic, 23% Independent
  • MSNBC: 18% Republican, 45% Democratic, 27% Independent

This is a fast changing world we live in so I wonder what relevance an article dated Oct. 6, 2008 has to do with Oct. 13, 2009. :dunno:

How about something a bit more current - - - -

CNSNews.com - Poll: Big Majorities Say Objective Journalism Is Dead and that Media Back Obama

Poll: Big Majorities Say Objective Journalism Is Dead and that Media Back Obama
Friday, September 25, 2009
By Fred Lucas, Staff Writer

(CNSNews.com) ? Two-thirds (67.9 percent) of Americans surveyed think that ?objective and fair journalism is dead,? while an overwhelming 89.3 percent believe the news media played a role in the election of President Barack Obama.

That is what a poll conducted earlier this month by the Sacred Heart University Polling Institute showed. The survey, ?Trust and Satisfaction with the National News Media,? polled 800 people nationwide and revealed that only 24.3 percent of Americans believe all or most reporting.

The poll also showed that over half of Americans ? 56.4 percent ? think the media are promoting the Democratic health care reform package without objective criticism, while 57.6 percent of those surveyed believed the news media tried to diminish the record of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee.

Ultimately, 86.6 percent of the people surveyed think that journalists strongly or somewhat have their own political and public policy positions and attempt to influence public opinion.

?The results suggest that we are witnessing a new era of partisan media with the important difference that current news outlets claim to be offering objective coverage when they often aren?t,? said James Castonguay, an associate professor of media studies and digital culture at Sacred Heart University.

Interestingly, the Fox News Channel, the most widely viewed cable news station, was ranked the most and least trusted TV news outlet among survey respondents.

Asked to name the TV news organization that is most trusted and accurate, 30 percent said Fox while 19.5 percent said CNN. NBC News and ABC News came in a distant tie for third at 7.5 percent.

But almost as many, 26.2 percent, named Fox as the TV news they trust the least. NBC News came in second place for least trusted at 9.9 percent, followed by MSNBC at 9.4 percent, CNN at 8.5 percent, CBS News at 5.3 percent and ABC News at 3.7 percent.

Despite the public?s distrust, 64.1 percent agree that the ?health of our democracy is directly tied to the health of journalism.?

But the fact that so many Americans do not believe what the media report could be problematic for the nation?s health, said Jerry C. Lindsley, director of the Sacred Heart University Polling Institute.

?This perception of bias will eventually catch up with the news media outlets,? he said. ?We found that 45.9 percent have permanently stopped watching a news media organization, print or electronic, because of perceived bias.?

In another question, 59 percent said they selected what news to watch or read based on objective reporting while 19 percent made their choice because they believe a specific news outlet shares their political views.

The survey shows that Americans are concerned about concentration of media ownership ? typically a liberal concern. But, most Americans also oppose the return of the Fairness Doctrine, typically a conservative view.

A big majority ? 73.4 percent ? thinks all news organizations should provide equal time and space to multiple sides of issues, but 70 percent said the media should be free from government regulation that would impose fairness.

Meanwhile, 71 percent think it is important that limits be put on how many media outlets a single company can own, while 24.7 percent believe this is not important. The poll says that 56.7 percent think it is ?bad for democracy? that six companies currently own almost all major media outlets in the United States.
