The Media Research Center today announced its Best Notable Quotables of 2008: The 21st Annual Awards for the Year's Worst Reporting, and MSNBC's Chris Matthews "won" the dubious honor of Quote of the Year for gushing over a Barack Obama speech back in February: "I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don't have that too often….And that is an objective assessment."

I don't think there will be a need of comparing "mis-quotes" of Mathews VS. Rush, or anyone else for that matter. But I DO understand where Mathews is coming from on that quote..

Obama's election was like a well needed rain on the drought depleted desert of, at the time, a disengaged country.

I am making a legitimate comparison between the two men in terms of their background, education, and political experience..and all you can come up with is one quote? Got it!

Yeah...Chris Matthews has everything....except ratings!

Yep, and every time you guys mention ratings, as though that is proof of quality, intelligence and truth, I am going to repeat that WWE Raw and SpongeBob beat all of these guys every week on cable.

It proves that the more entertaining pundits get the ratings, not the smartest or truthiest ones.

Fox is more entertaining - I'd love to see their ratings among college students who are, shall we say, in an altered state. I bet they are through the roof.

How in the heck was that a mis-quote? I'm sold that Matthews spent time the night before thinking that gem up. Had it been someone at Fox saying that about Bush they would have been slaughtered, but instead he got the standard liberal get out of jail free card. I haven't spent any time defending Rush in this thread, or ever for that matter in sowal. Your gushing over Matthews leaves you no room to criticize any of the folks here that get their news from the right leaning media, as Matthews is nothing more than a lib sock puppet. You seem to think that your way of thinking is far superior to those who think opposite of you. This is the best way I can describe the way your smugness comes off in some of your posts...

Basically, anyone here can do their own research on the two--but, very simply put--Chris Mathews has the educational credentials, the resume and the intelligence, as well as the background and the skills to be a great T.V. moderator, journalist, or editorialist, which he is! He is someone who has enough of the right kind of background experience that he could also reinvent himself and become a great elected official.

I don't see any of that in the Rush Limbaugh Story?

Educational credentials open doors. Essentially, it is how you get your first good job. After that, a persons performance is what matters. Former President Bush graduated from Yale and Harvard.

I used to watch Hardball. I once heard Chris Matthews say he never attended a class with an African American. :shock: Amazing.
