Yeah, right. Nice edit.

It's the best I'm going to do after seeing the groups of Americans cheering when the US lost the olympics and the outrage expressed by Americans after the POTUS was awarded the Nobel.

Yeah, you're right. There was a lot of hoopla over those two cicumstances/events.

Maybe it will all settle down and we can get to issues like Afghanistan, send more troops/pull out, continue to tweak healthcare reform and curtail spending.

I didn't experience anyone I know cheering over losing the Olympics. But, when Atlanta was vying for the Olympics, the AOC was in place at least a year, maybe longer before the announcement. One businessman here had a vision and built a team of leaders here that brought it to fruition. The concensus I felt was that President Obama was using his position and Chicago being his home to gain the Olympics. Personally, I'd rather the business constituents of Chicago and the members of the COC, whom I know worked tirelessly to gain the Olympics, do the travel and work/present before the IOC. It was a nice gesture of the President, but not necessary.

I also did not feel anyone outraged that he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, but that the award was premature.

Everyone can decipher how they want. And, if you look at sowal.com, there probably was some respective cheering and outrage.

Rebranding America - An Opinion by Bono

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/18/opinion/18bono.html
"These new steps ? and those 36 words ? remind the world that America is not just a country but an idea, a great idea about opportunity for all and responsibility to your fellow man."

IMO, Interesting points from a different perspective.

Those are fabulous words and I remember the original convictions. I believe we will be able to make strides into abating poverty worldwide and I think that also takes certain countries governments cooperating with the mission as well. Thanks for posting this Miss Goodwitch.

Side note: I like Bono and love his efforts for world peace, ending poverty, etc.
But, I don't particularly like going to a concert and having politics involved. Ten years ago, he/they were great in concert. Today, people exited on his second diatribe about politics. They do still put on a good show, however. (It reminded me of the black church I went to a few years ago when the preacher screamed that we needed to get out of Iraq and into Iran.)

In the spirit of peace and pay czars, I hope he decides that his 10 million krona should be subject to 100% taxation and hand over the prize to the U.S. Treasury.

He's already said it will be donated to charity. All of it.

No word yet about to whom he will donate. I think it will reveal a lot about the man, seeing how he divvies up the pot. If indeed he does; it could quite conceivably go to one recipient. I can't imagine anything more funn than having such a large chunk of change to give away to worthy causes/organizations/people...!

And I am so looking forward to all the positive comments about his choice of recipient(s). ;-)
