Side note: I like Bono and love his efforts for world peace, ending poverty, etc.
But, I don't particularly like going to a concert and having politics involved. Ten years ago, he/they were great in concert. Today, people exited on his second diatribe about politics. They do still put on a good show, however. (It reminded me of the black church I went to a few years ago when the preacher screamed that we needed to get out of Iraq and into Iran.)

I hear the point made often that Bono should leave the politics out of their shows (by people who evidently lack familiarity with the band and their body of work). Go back even before Boy and War (before they were even called U2) and the passionate politics was there. People walking out of a U2 show because it was too political for them is like leaving a hockey game because there was a fight...

Oh, OK. Thanks.

As I said earlier, they weren't political when I saw them ten years ago. Thanks for letting me know their history, however.

Great group and great causes. I don't care for the politics when I am at a concert. That's just me.....and, no I wasn't one that walked out. If others enjoy the political slant, that's their perogative, right?

Isn't there supposed to be blood on the ice at a hockey game? :dunno:

How could a peace prize not be political, and who are you to tell the Nobel committee how to base their decision? Who brainwashed you into thinking all awards should be based on pure objectivity, as if such a thing exists in the real world, which apparently you don't seem to be a part of. An award like this could be based on achievement , but clearly it is intended to endorse an ideology as well. What on earth are you thinking? Hate to break it to you, but the world doesn't revolve around you, thank goodness.
Horrible personal attack and unjustified.

It amazes me the number of folks who are still enamored with this guy! What on earth for? Obama makes a pretty speech or two (via the teleprompter) and gets the award. A man who has devoted his life to rescuing young girls from abuse and prostitution rings in Africa gets zero. Al Gore makes a movie about a discredited Global Warning theory and wins while a woman who put her life on the line rescuing Jews during the Holocaust gets zip. The Nobel Prize is a farce.
should he save money and use index cards so we can see the top of his head?

One of the reasons I love U2 is because of their political activism. A lot of great music is great because it has deeper meaning and significance.

How much better would the world be if all chart topping musicians spent as much time and money improving the world as Bono did?

Best concert ever attended was a U2 concert a month or so after 9-11. I certainly didn't have a problem w/ the fact that they chose to honor the victims during the show and speak out against terrorism and violence (and neither did the NY policemen and firefighters flown in on a private plane by a $$$ local business to take a break and enjoy the show).
