The environment is the totality of our surroundings, a negative effect on any part would affect the entire system.

I'm somewhat in the middle on this whole argument. I hope those who claim our actions have zero effect on global weather are correct and we can go on with our selfish ways and those who disagree are wrong. The biggest problem with this is most in the climate sciences community believe that more than 200 years of fossil fuel burning, clear cutting/burning forests, dumping manufacturing waste into our waterways, poor farming practices, and other human activities have taken a toll on our planet and its weather patterns. Since this is their field of expertise I will respect their opinion but hope they are wrong.

Another way to go would be to have so much hatred for one man I would claim it is all one big leftwing conspiracy and discount anything that contradicts what I want to believe. I would also take the word of an Oklahoma Senator with a degree in economics over those with careers in climate science.

I think I'll just keep an open mind and realize I don't have the answer and hope those studying and working on the matter will discover the truth and then we will all know the answer.

By the way, and sorry to double post, I would like to know your source for the highlighted text above.:dunno:

So if I understand your argument correctly, the camp that has not gobbled up the anthropogenic climate change theory is occupied exclusively by know nothings and hacks? If that is your understanding of the issue, what can I say? Will it make you feel any better that the three credit hour meteorology course I took in college constitutes more formal climatology training than that undertaken by 'the hated man'?

No, you don't understand it correctly and I could care less about the hated man, it's just some can't get past their hatred so they latch onto an even less knowledgeable senator to make themselves feel better.

The way I read it is that it is generally agreed by scientists that all of our changes to the planet have an effect.

The disagreement is to exactly what the effects are, what their magnitude is, and how we should deal with it.

I assume you are referencing Inhofe. Looks like he cares enough about the taxpayers to have gone to the Copenhagen fiasco on his own dime. Not surprisingly, his more 'enlightened' peers flushed our tax dollars down the toilet getting to the party. Not terribly surprising.

Yes and he made quite an impression didn't he. Listen, I'm not trying to get into an argument on this subject with you or anyone because I'm not sure what the truth is and neither does anyone else. Let's just hope you are correct and then it's a win win for everyone.

That would be the part where you said the majority of the 'climate sciences community' are on record as believing the above mentioned have somehow taken a toll on our weather patterns. I don't know that is an accurate statement. Some do, some don't and I am willing to bet the trend is toward fewer willing to assert that humanity is behind relevant climate change.

So you're guessing at it also?

How can we have built, stripped, changed, paved, polluted, emitted, leached, burned, flooded, drained, and used the entire planet - without any consequences? What happens on the ground directly affects what happens above the ground. I think the people that don't see that climate change is a very probable possibility don't see much beyond what they imagine is their own contribution. Multiply that by the world population and see that we are a mind boggling influence on ALL of Mother Nature.

Who is the 'hated man?' And, who is the Senator from OK?
