So much fun to read this. Is it not the best to take your boat out with your little pooky? She is a doll and even though I don't know you I feel your excitement. Have a wonderful spring/summer/fall with your boat. You are a lucky guy!

Next time it should only take me 20 or so tries to back it up! lol I think I forgot to mention that when I finally had it all lined up and ready to put in the water, Imy let me know she had to go to the bathroom! We had to pack it all up, drive home and use the bathroom and then come back and start from scratch!

Please do come say hi SWGB!

Ps. Thanks for the advice Singingchicken! I will try that next time. :D

Will do, I usually scream NO WAKE at some of the "boating enthusiasts".

Went out for 3 hours today! Forgot sunblock or it would have been longer. lol I upgraded the electric trolling motor to a 40 pound thrust and variable speed and had much better results. Also purchased a new marine deep cycle battery and only dented it by about 10 percent for quite a bit of use. I really need to get the outboard repaired soon, and then we can really get crazy! Imy is completely used to the boat now and isn't nervous anymore and I was able to launch the boat in roughly half the time as my last attempt! Thanks for all of the advice as it looks like I might get the hang of it within the next 10 or so launches! lol;-):D

I counted at least 15 back and fills. :D I've never seen the guys from CHELCO giggle like that.

P.S. You look better with the beard.

So you didn't come out and say hi again? Jeez! I promise you that Imygyn isn't that dangerous of a little girl! lol The supervisor from Chelco commented that he has never seen anyone put a boat into that lake in the last 15 years. Definitely a plus for someone who needs to take his time using the boat ramp! lol

Ps. Hmmm...you weren't that little old man on our way back who couldn't understand that we didn't go fishing were you?

Old man "So how many fish did you catch?"
Me "None, we just went out to enjoy the day"
Old man "So you fishing for bass?"
Me "No sir, we didn't go fishing"
Old man "How many bass you catch?"
Me ".............................5..."

DTI, great photos - and you are creating memories with your little girl that she will treasure forever! I learned how to steer a boat sitting in my Daddy's lap, before I learned to walk. I will never forget our summers spent at the lake (ours was in N. Wisconsin... :)

He taught how to back up a boat trailer as soon as I started driving, and I still have trouble sometimes! Singinchicken, this is awesome advice, especially #2!

Lesson #1...Start with the trailer as straight to where you want to go as you can even if it means hauling it to Freeport to line it up!

Lesson #2...Put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. Which ever way you push the wheel from the bottom is the way the trailer will go.

Lesson #3...Make your corrections small and then stop them by adding in the same amount of wheel in the opposite direction.

You can do it!

I don't know why that never occurred to me, but what a simple way to manage direction! Usually I have to stop and remind myself to "think opposite."
