Yes, another Palin thread. Seriously, how so many continue to be enamored with this moron is beyond me.

Sarah Palin Blames Environmentalists For Gulf Oil Disaster

In her latest note on Facebook, Sarah Palin is blaming "extreme 'environmentalists'" for causing the gulf oil disaster that has been unfolding for over a month. Her logic is that because environmentalists push for tougher drilling regulations onshore in places like the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (also known as ANWR) it forces oil companies to explore deeper offshore drilling which has more risks.
Palin writes:
With [environmentalists'] nonsensical efforts to lock up safer drilling areas, all you're doing is outsourcing energy development, which makes us more controlled by foreign countries, less safe, and less prosperous on a dirtier planet. Your hypocrisy is showing. You're not preventing environmental hazards; you're outsourcing them and making drilling more dangerous. Extreme deep water drilling is not the preferred choice to meet our country's energy needs, but your protests and lawsuits and lies about onshore and shallow water drilling have locked up safer areas. It's catching up with you. The tragic, unprecedented deep water Gulf oil spill proves it.

It says a lot that Palin feels the need to use Facebook and Twitter posts when she has a national media platform at her disposal - someone was questioning that when I was channel surfing last night.

And the last time I checked, it wasn't the ENVIRONMENTALISTS lying about the safety of oil drilling and I think we would all like a few MORE regulations.

Outsourcing energy development? What a crock.

Who is hypocritical?

Her husband worked for one of those "outsourced" companies for 18 years. Betcha can't find any quotes from her dissing them while Toddy boy brought home their dirty money.....

We're all to Blame

All of us who use oil/gas products are to blame. We, the consumers, buy the stuff so obviously they will drill for it SOMEWHERE. The oil is in the earth for a reason, and we humans just rape the earth without first knowing what kind of calamities we may cause on a large or small scale. Even the mere extraction of the stuff, without any spill, may cause ecological damage that we are unaware of until it's too late.

Nobody should be pointing their fingers at anyone else...we are ALL to blame.....:cuss:

Right here!
There is some validity to this arguement. Deep water drilling is taking place because shallower areas and areas on land are off limits. The oil company's go where they can drill

However, this is temporary in nature. In time, all areas will get drilled as world reserves dry up. Moratoriums are temporary measures. Last summer was a perfect example of what will happen as we approach peak oil. Ten dollar gas, higher consumer goods prices, utility bill increases, ... in time, all moratoriums will be rescended and we will be drilling for oil where ever we can find it.

I understand what you are saying but if we all just quiet down because we all use oil then the status quo is maintained.

If folks were provided with ample alternatives, they would utilize them. If you live in an inner city with no access to fruits and vegetables and all there is to purchase is fast food- well, you gotta eat and you will end up eating fast food more often than you'd prefer. But meanwhile, it would be productive to voice your concerns to business leaders, elected officials, etc. to try to facilitate change. If enough people express their concerns and their hunger for something else (even if it's while they continue to eat fast food) then eventually someone will look to open up a healthy alternative to serve the market. And perhaps they could acquire some funding or backing from the local politicos to help get them there and ensure their success.

Shopper,
Palin's argument is just as ludicrous as if I said that locals who oppose 24 hour liquor sales are to blame when someone leaves the 30A area, gets tanked at AJ's on Okaloosa Island (they are open til 6am, I believe) and then kills someone on their drive home.

However, this is temporary in nature. In time, all areas will get drilled as world reserves dry up. Moratoriums are temporary measures. It might end up this way. But it does NOT need to be this way. We have options.

Oil is the past - hell, BPsolar is a major player in alternative energy and Wal-mart is one of their customers.

We have all the technology now to drastically reduce our oil consumption and a wide variety of behavioral changes we could all make to use less oil and energy - we just have to choose to do so.

Sarah Palin needs to KEEP ON talking, yep both she and Rush--they are the voice that has overtaken the Republican Party (soon to be know as the The Republican'T Party.)

There are no other intelligent, conservative, Republicans with balls (or Michael Steele) to tell those 2 clowns when they should shut up...they are all afraid of them..:rotfl:

Let 'em both continue to make horse's a_ _ _ s of themselves and support their favorite candidates (whack jobs and racists). Yea, fortunately only 23 % of all Americans will always believe whatever drivel they expouse....so, in the end, I say this will help keep the power strings on the Left in both 2010 and 2012.:lolabove:
