So if I am following this correctly (and I totally skimmed because it's like 4 year-old kids debating about who's a bigger doodyhead), you are mad at the President and First Lady for presenting a prize (created during Bush's Administration BTW) that is awarded by the Library of Congress.

The recipient was an internationally known artist who has been knighted by the Queen of England for his musical contributions and somehow the mild joke "After the last eight years it is great to have a president who knows what a library is." is what is getting everyone's knickers in a twist.

Seriously? Have you heard what comes out of the mouths of most political commentators? And do you really want to take the position that George Bush is an intellectual?

You would be singing a different tune if this was happening here as it is in Louisiana.

This is a crisis in America and that is why the feds should be involved. Did you mind paying for hurricane disasters or the September 11 disaster?

I would prefer my tax dollar go to the Gulf Coast than ACORN.

Yowsa! I'm just surprised no one has bashed The American Thinker in this thread yet.

From what I recall about the 9.11.01 attack is that they weren't Afghanis - Osama bin Laden remains a man without a country; his country renounced his citizenship a couple of decades ago. Then, we attacked Iraq during a time when people around the globe was for this. And, because Hussein violated 12 years of sanctions and the UN would not enforce the sanctions. Interesting. I've said before that I don't believe any of these men (and, women) get to the seat of the Presidency by being less than intelligent. However, people are always going to slam Bush in this respect. I think he's handled this criticism rather well.

Comparing this to Katrina is silly to me. However, Bush was begging the Gov. of LA to declare emergency before the storm even hit. She wouldn't - something about States' Rights? If Fed had moved in and infiltrated LA, guess what? Bush would have been slammed for violating the protocol. I have no idea how that Mayor was re-elected. Jindal has been begging Fed to come in and help and was essentially ignored. This entire Gulf Crisis breaks my heart on many, many fronts.

We should move in and clean up the Gulf Oil Spill, presenting BP the bill. I agree that there have been people around the world wanting to assist - just who has been the NO person? Our President has come up short with this crisis.

I like the Beatles alot. However, he should not have made the comment he made......neither those Dixie Chics. Our current President should not have politely laughed. Arrogance! Eck!

That doesn't sound right to me. I've written to the White House and asked, I will let you know what I find out.

BTW, I agree it was a snarky comment. :dunno:

Do we really have to go all the way back to the new china for the WH uproar?

While Rome burned and the gulf filled with oil, they biotched and moaned over politics. Things that would change nothing at the end of the day, except to fill their own egos with the balm of their self-righteousness.-aleonard

I have yet to see a link to the 10 million dollar Obama entertainment budget.

Further I'm a little shocked that people can proclaim what a good thing it is for a working POTUS to read 50+ books a year. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I'd have to work part time to accomplish that. I also have to consider the source of that information as dubious at best, Karl Rove, come on.

Oh and as to Sir Paul's remark, those saying it was in poor taste should take a serious look in the mirror. Are you seriously trying to tell me that's worse than some of the hate and vitriol spewed just on this board since Obama was elected?

If you are so distrubed by the $10 million dollar quote why not just look it up for yourself? You are so smart and know something about every subject.

I heard President Bush talking about his book reading contest with Rove on CSpan also. It is true. .

Correction: It was a cheeky comment. The Beatles were known for cheeky comments. Obama reflexively reacted as any human would. In retrospect, I think we should take back the Gershwin award and maybe the knighthood too. This is all Paul's fault... I'm going to burn all my Beatles records and I'm not going to believe him anymore about that "all you need is love" crap. (Ya'll gettin weirder by the second.)
