I was making a wise-ass remark, just as Paul was making a wise-ass remark. Obama laughed because it was humorous, nothing more, nothing less. Bush, by his own admission , said he didn't read a lot of books. I think history will prove that Bush was pretty stupid to have invaded Iraq.

It would be good to see you back up your comment that President Bush said he doesn't read many books. Your comment is not true.

Here's my source from the Wall Street Journal that says he read 95 books in 2006. 51 books in 2007 and 40 books in 2008 plus he reads the Bible cover to cover each year.

Karl Rove Says George W. Bush Is a Book Lover - WSJ.com

Paul McCartney is a shallow-minded fool. He showed no class whatsoever dissing an American President to an American President in the White House. I could only hope Obama was laughing due to the shock of the crass comment.

The new BP guy finally said they would forward the funds for the berms.

Why is it our (federal taxpayers) job to front the money for what is BP's responsibility while they pay for PR campaigns?

You would be singing a different tune if this was happening here as it is in Louisiana.

This is a crisis in America and that is why the feds should be involved. Did you mind paying for hurricane disasters or the September 11 disaster?

I would prefer my tax dollar go to the Gulf Coast than ACORN.

First of all, I understand completely what is happening in Louisiana.

Do you not comprehend the difference between a weather related disaster and one caused directly by the negligence of a company? In the slightest little way, do you not think this is different?

You just love big government and you want it to swoop in and solve all problems.

Yowsa! I'm just surprised no one has bashed The American Thinker in this thread yet.

From what I recall about the 9.11.01 attack is that they weren't Afghanis - Osama bin Laden remains a man without a country; his country renounced his citizenship a couple of decades ago. Then, we attacked Iraq during a time when people around the globe was for this. And, because Hussein violated 12 years of sanctions and the UN would not enforce the sanctions. Interesting. I've said before that I don't believe any of these men (and, women) get to the seat of the Presidency by being less than intelligent. However, people are always going to slam Bush in this respect. I think he's handled this criticism rather well.

Comparing this to Katrina is silly to me. However, Bush was begging the Gov. of LA to declare emergency before the storm even hit. She wouldn't - something about States' Rights? If Fed had moved in and infiltrated LA, guess what? Bush would have been slammed for violating the protocol. I have no idea how that Mayor was re-elected. Jindal has been begging Fed to come in and help and was essentially ignored. This entire Gulf Crisis breaks my heart on many, many fronts.

We should move in and clean up the Gulf Oil Spill, presenting BP the bill. I agree that there have been people around the world wanting to assist - just who has been the NO person? Our President has come up short with this crisis.

I like the Beatles alot. However, he should not have made the comment he made......neither those Dixie Chics. Our current President should not have politely laughed. Arrogance! Eck!

A crisis is a crisis is a crisis. Where are all your liberal feelings?

By the way, I misspoke in an earlier post about Louisiana needing federal funds to build berms. No, they did not ask for federal funds - they asked for permission to build the berms and heard nothing for three long weeks.

Yes, anything in our waters has to have DEP/EPA approval.........I am just sick about all of this. Department of Environmental Protection/Environmental Protection Agency - hmmmmm, what have they protected in the last 50 days? I can't view the images, have turned off the news and pray for a miracle. Maybe someone will say YES to the tankers coming in and cleaning this up. Maybe by Christmas after most of the Gulf Coast Shorelines are destroyed. How unfortunate.

Here4Good suggested that I love Big Government. I would love for the size of government to shrink and for senate and congress critters to have term limits. Staying in D. C. too long corrupts them all. Both sides.

Seriously? You think that Paul McCartney was paid to play at the White House after accepting the Gershwin Prize?

Yep! There has been ten million paid out to play at the White House concerts since Obama took office. That's ten million dollars Here4good. Those wonderful musical artists do not play for free.

That doesn't sound right to me. I've written to the White House and asked, I will let you know what I find out.

BTW, I agree it was a snarky comment. :dunno:
