Is vacationing bad?

Bush took the most, Carter took the least, Eisenhower had a heart attack every time he went on one...

Was confused by that, then realized it was from 2005 - so it didn't have Bush's final tally - he blew the rest out of the water.

A whopping 487 days at Camp David and 490 at his Texas ranch.

this is another one of those media generated issues IMO. It is easier to ask this and start a whole whirlwind of speculation than to do the hard work of reporting.

IMO We would be better off hearing about some of the real issues that I hope someone is taking care of...and I would prefer the reporters ask the president about the issues, rather than whether he is going to get angry or vacation on the Gulf coast.

I would like to hear a discussion about what he is doing to galvanize resources to stop this disaster; to get people to clean this up; maybe to find a tanker that is closer than Newfoundland and could get to the Gulf in less than two weeks FTLOG!

Except for Rolling Stone and McClatchy reporters, who has looked into why MMS wasn't swept clean?

.why there isn't a Task Force in the White House on this disaster?

why there wasn't a conference between maybe our Secretary of Commerce and State Department and their counterparts in the UK to see how to galvanize resources to come to the aid of the British company that is so obviously incompetent to fix this thing?

where are the clean up people? Why is there so much confusion about the boom?

Why did the EPA authorize the dispersant?

The list of questions is endless...and we have reporters and anchors who make millions of dollars
asking about vacation plans and anger!:bang:

hold the president and the administration accountable, but hold them accountable for something that matters...

You're right on target (although I thought this thread was going to be a fun one). The administration's inability to clean house at MMS and the widescale use of dispersants have to be investigated further, rather than dwell on Obama's use of the word "ass". Gimme a break. :bang:

He did take a lot of time off although many of those days were at Camp David with heads of state or weekends at his ranch. He also entertained heads of state a lot at the ranch. He took August off each year but so does most of D. C. I don't think weekends should count for much but they are figured in the final tally. Is any President of USA ever really on vacation? I doubt it.

When we lived in Texas and would go out of country we were met with hostility some times because everyone knows you're an American. As soon as they heard we were from Texas, big smiles would break out on their faces. So many of them think Texas is still the wild west. We did not disabuse them of their notions. When Bush was President ,heads of state wanted to visit the ranch. Same thing when LBJ was President. It's a Texas thang. :D

sorry didn't mean to spoil your funn. I thought I was in politics, no?:D

I think that would be a nice way to show support and that the beaches are clean/safe - but where could they go that is contained enough that they can actually vacation in peace?

I believe one of the reason's Martha's Vineyard is popular is that it is easily securable, buildings meet Secret Service requirements, and access can be easily controlled.

Somewhere on 30-A might be the best, but can't imagine the cluster a presidential motorcade on 30-A or 98 during the summer would cause. ;-)
The Obamas could vacay in peace in our 'hood in Seagrove. It's so private because there are so many full-time residents and because those who rent are allowed only a small number of rentals per year. I can't remember seeing more than a dozen people on our beach. This past weekend I never saw a single person on our beach other than those walking through in the wet sand.

Unfortunately for President Obama, our home is booked except for a week in which I'm not answering VRBO inquiries because I want that week for myself. Barry, if you want that week, PM me!
