just because 55% of those polled think that, doesn't make it correct; it just means they haven't done their homework except for reading the "talking points"...I think it's pretty confident of Stan Greenberg and James Carville to put that question in--gives some good information about the mindset of the ones answering-- and the ones polled were "those most likely to vote in the mid-term election" which translates into the base of the opposition party. So, these results are not at all surprising.

In hard ball politics, it's always smart to know what the other side is thinking; helps with the message development.;-)

Well, what you quoted is my own liberal opinion. I just happened to find a Salon item that expanded on it -- their quote is the one below.
and poll results are, by definition, opinions, not facts, so a poll is only as good as its interpretation.

Did you read the post above that includes the poll taken by Democrat operatives? According to their poll, I'm not alone in my thinking as 55 % of likely voters think Obama is a Socialist. Socialism is not democracy and is against capitalism.

Sarawind?You've answered that you agree with 55% of poll respondents that think the president is a socialist. But that doesn't answer the question you were asked. (Do you stand by the statement: "the president loathes our country and wants to bring it down." Or don't you?)

Even if the president were a openly-admitted socialist, he could love--not loathe-- the country and want to build it up?not bring it down. In fact, if he were a socialist, that would mean?by definition?that he believed that socialist policies would build up the country better than capitalistic policies.

Although capitalists and socialists disagree on means, they don't necessarily disagree on ends. It wouldn't be fair for a socialist to question your patriotism just because you preferred capitalist policies.

Whether or not the president is a socialist, he doesn't deserve to be demonized or to have his patriotism questioned. It does a disservice to him personally, his office, those who voted for him, those that support him, and all the Americans he represents.

Would you like to take one more stab at trying to answer the question clearly and unambiguously?

I prefer not to reply to trolls directly, and I don't like to quote them because their verbiage contaminates my posts. I will counter their statements sometimes with new posts, but I prefer not to address them. It keeps it from getting personal but at the same time I can say what I think of their really warped ideas.
