I give up on reading this thread looking for information about presidential candidates for 2012. So I'll join y'all in your discussions.

The beginning of this discussion has some good comments about presidential candidates from both sides if you care to go back to the beginning. As in most discussions the topic went elsewhere.

As to feeling more or less or the same freedom the perception of freedom comes
in to play. Things we experience hear, see, absorb is part of the process of becoming aware.

We are less free. The present elite political class in charge of that snakepit called
Washington, D. C. have just thrown out civil rights, they are nationalizing businesses,
health care, banking, and are hell bent on nationalizing oil. Shades of Chavez. We
are less free and it will get worse when Obama?s destructive taxation takes place
January, 1, 2011.

Our standing in the world has become a laughingstock and makes us vulnerable.
The total lack of concern about the Gulf Coast from the president is unconscionable
and his demands the press stop reporting it reeks of being dictatorial. He is
not king of America and is on another vacation. His standing among independents,
democrats, republicans, etc., are in the tank. A lot of people who have supported him have had an epiphany and their minds have opened to what is going on around them.

We?ve had many presidents, some good, some not so good but this is the first
Socialist we?ve had in office who also despises capitalism and wants to bring
this country down. And he?s accomplishing it.

He's not a socialist. Who here reallllly thinks he is a socialist?

Ron Paul in April of this year said this:

By Susan Davis

NEW ORLEANS?Republicans and tea party activists are fond of accusing President Barack Obama of being a socialist, but today party gadfly Ron Paulsaid they had it wrong.

?In the technical sense, in the economic definition, he is not a socialist,? the Texas Republican said to a smattering of applause at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference.

?He?s a corporatist,? Paul quickly added, meaning the president takes ?care of corporations and corporations take over and run the country.?

Supporters of the Texas lawmaker appear to represent a significant number of the 3,500 attendees here, fueling speculation that Paul is likely to win the straw poll later today. The Campaign for Liberty, Paul?s political outfit, declined to discuss how many of his supporters were at SRLC.

The Texan?s supporters often descend on political gatherings to vote for him in 2012 straw polls. In February, he won the Conservative Political Action Conference?s straw poll with a hefty 31% of the vote.

And TOP US Socialists say he is NOT one of them. I think they would know don't you.

He's not a full blown socialist as far as anybody knows, but he is a social democrat, which in our political system is about as far left as you can get without going fringe.

Sarawind posted previously that the president "loathes" this country, and now posts that "he wants to bring this country down."

Maybe Sarawind honestly believes it, but what an extraordinary belief, that someone--anyone--would run for and become president of the US, while loathing it and wanting to destroy it.

I can respect someone who thinks the president wants the best for the country, but is so stupid, or wrongheaded, or misguided, or whatever, that his policies are having or likely to have the exact opposite effect. But to think that he actually hates the country...?

From previous posts, we know that Sarawind thinks many around the president are complicit in wanting the worst, rather than the best, for our country.

If the president and those around him really loathe this country and actually wants to bring it down, we are in serious trouble.

Surely, Sarawind, you think he's just wrongheaded, or incompetent, or has the wrong political philosophy--you don't really think he hates the country & wants to destroy it, do you?

Please don't answer that "well, his actions ARE going to destroy the country..." Surely you'll give him credit for at least being well intentioned, won't you?

Gidget, Ron Paul is as nutty as a nutjob can be! Paul Carville, while nutty looking, is not. This is from the Carville/Greenberg poll. Stan Greenberg and Carville are excellent at what they do and what they do is get democrats elected. Here?s their poll:

James Carville runs Democracy Corps, a liberal political-action group that also does regular polling on elections and issues.? Normally it provides the Left with interesting, if not necessarily compelling, data for debate, but today?s poll results have plenty for the Right to discuss.? Not only does it show Barack Obama underwater on job approval, it also shows that Obama has created a wide impression that he is a socialist in practice, as Jim Geraghty points out:
Deep in the poll, they ask, ?Now, I am going to read you a list of words and phrases which people use to describe political figures. For each word or phrase, please tell me whether it describes Barack Obama very well, well, not too well, or not well at all.? ?
When asked about ?a socialist,? 33 percent of likely voters say it describes Obama ?very well,? 22 percent say ?well,? 15 percent say ?not too well,? and 25 percent say ?not well at all.?
In other words, 55 percent of likely voters think ?socialist? is a reasonably accurate way of describing Obama.

Ugabuga, I believe his intentions are not in the best interest of all Americans.

Poppy Up to your usual - calling poster that disagree with you people that hate I love this country and would give my life for it.

Sarawind,
Your answer is lawyerly and evasive, worthy of a "politician."; One might even say that your answer is "Clintonesque."

You have posted previously that you think the president "loathes" the country, and "wants to bring this country down."

Do you stand by the statement: "the president loathes our country and wants to bring it down." Or don't you?

Try to be clear, unambiguous and straightforward.

Thank you.

Did you read the post above that includes the poll taken by Democrat operatives? According to their poll, I'm not alone in my thinking as 55 % of likely voters think Obama is a Socialist. Socialism is not democracy and is against capitalism.

just because 55% of those polled think that, doesn't make it correct; it just means they haven't done their homework except for reading the "talking points"...I think it's pretty confident of Stan Greenberg and James Carville to put that question in--gives some good information about the mindset of the ones answering-- and the ones polled were "those most likely to vote in the mid-term election" which translates into the base of the opposition party. So, these results are not at all surprising.

In hard ball politics, it's always smart to know what the other side is thinking; helps with the message development.;-)

Why the Obama-is-a-socialist poll isn't surprising - War Room - Salon.com

The first thing to keep in mind is that we're talking about likely midterm voters, which means that the sample is skewed to include more Republican-friendly voters, who are more likely to turn out in November. This is what always happens in midterm elections: The out party's base is more motivated.

Of course, this only accounts for a few extra points. As the poll shows, even when the pool is broadened, the number of voters who describe their president as a socialist is quite high. But maybe this has always been the case? The right has been screaming about Obama's "socialism" since the summer of 2008 (at least) -- long before he was elected, long before he was sworn in, and long before he signed a single piece of legislation. In other words, the right reached its conclusion before there was any evidence. (This is the "thinking with my gut" mentality that Stephen Colbert likes to mock.)
