Stopped the delivery guy yesterday and said, "Dude, I've already got too many as it is..."

He responded with, "Yes, but this is the Talking Phone Book!"...

Yeah, because that's really a selling point, that it'll talk to me. I mean, hell, it's bad enough to have 'em laying around the house, taking up space and not doing anything...

Now they're able to talk back, too! :bang:;-)

another phone book

O.K. I got ANOTHER one today, but this time it was in my mailbox and like, "you have to be kidding". I wonder if they put one in the mailbox for the house no one lives in. It is amazing, I've never seen anything like this before. I don't think the mailman delivers them. I thought they were not supposed to put them in your mailbox. Yes, I got the talking phone book and don't get the talking part since they don't look up numbers for you and tell them to you. This is a funny place and you never know where you'll find another phone book. At least it gave me a laugh when I found the one hiding in my mailbox today! :funn::funn::funn:

Here they come again! Marroon van with the slide door open so they can do a quick drive by and shoot phone books out. Unfortunately for them, I live on a dead end so they have to turn around and come back by so i can throw it right back in the van. Scumbags.

Multiple phone books - one w/ a CD so I can use a computer to search it.

Honey, that's why phone books are obsolete - it's called Google!

12 so far this year. There has to be a better use of resources!

phone books

I can't believe the money wasted on phone books. I moved here in April and started getting phone book after phone book. I even found one in my mailbox. It stopped after May and I just got back from out of town and low and behold there were two phone books waiting for me. One all wet from the rain. I just throw them in the trash especially when they are all wet. I like to throw the wet one at someone that is in charge. That might get their attention. What is it some kind of competition on who can put out the most phone books. Weird!! As I've said before I also have no room for any more phone books. If I kept them all, I'd have a libraray of phone books!!:lol:

Call the police and complain that they are littering. If I threw something, repeatedly, in your yard, it would be littering, wouldn't it?

Repeat:

An enterprising person could figure out a way to make them into solid slabs and build a very solid, soundproof and highly insulated house out of phone books. It would garner plenty of national and international attention if desired.

Add glue...now you have a paper mache house. I think we should boycott those that still advertise in those books!:dunno:

I was thinking some kind of polymer to soak them in and then dry. Trick is to make it eco-friendly, non-flammable, and resistant to rot and decay, etc.

Maybe bayou mud would work.

I was trying to figure out to use them ala hay bales for a storage shed or garage. Figured a row or two of Cmu for base, rebar drilled through to keep them in place, then stuccoed over w/ a cap piece.

Unfortunately their typical puddle/shrub delivery and irregular size makes them unsuitable.
