End of big government and wasteful spending, I can get on board with. I would very much like to see more specific, thoughtful debate as to how we can accomplish that without significant changes or reductions to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and the military-industrial complex. And if we change them, how? The "founding principles" thing is too vague for me, unless it is code for "Christian principles," in which case I can say I disagree. Basic principles of ethics and morality, however, I can get behind. The more specific the better.

Even poopoo has salvageable qualities, it's called manure. So in the middle of the stink, there is a possibility to find something worthwhile to grow on... or maybe not cause Beck and Palin are the devil and jezebel in some people's minds. Why am I even involved in this not even fit for manure going nowhere discussion? Tallyho
I'll be a bossy pants and throw out one last comment like a gradeschooler.
You will never find everything about one person appealing no matter how high you regard them and there is always something to be learned from every individual, whether positive or what not to do, hence, salvageable. I know this is not popular cause it's a perspective solution and therefore it throws water on the raging fire that makes you want to fight and tear people down- carry on.
The small boxes of black/ off-white, left/right, dem/rep, tea party/pot party, conservative/liberal, my god/your god, i'm right/you're wrong, tattoo/ no tattoo are beckoning. Don't be an individual that thinks outside the box- you might accomplish something.
ok so it was more than one comment

love ya

You are supposed to be the ones with the cajones. Would one of you stop reacting to lefties (myself included) and answer the questions I have posed in POST 1?

Anyone?

I did plenty of research on the TP. We have many threads about it. I'm asking about Beck's themes.

Did I suggest he couldn't participate/voice his beliefs? When?

I don't object to his voicing his beliefs - you'll never hear me criticize Mike Huckabee for it.

I am saying that I cannot find a place in Beck's boat, no matter how strongly I might feel about overspending in government, because I think he wants a Christian theocracy.

That's America. He says what he wants, I disagree with it, I voice my opinion. I never said he should be arrested.

Actually Huckabee wants a theocracy too though not necessarily Christian. He wants to amend the constitution making it so. The Raw Story | Huckabee: Amend Constitution to be in 'God's standards'

This is a very sensible post. I have yet to hear a specific proposal from Dr. Glenn Beck. In my opinion, he should be drafted as the Republican nominee for president, so that maybe, just maybe, he might be forced to come up with specific proposals to fix the problems in America.

Geo may be waiting a long time for his answer...

I answered to the best of my knowledge. The Beck rally was not big on my radar and I really had not focused on it. I have read several stories since your first post and from what I can read it was a non-political, positive celebration of heros in our country and the contributions of Judeo-Christian ethics and theory to the building of this nation. I believe the thrust was that the last 20-30 years have seen a turn from traditional American values and the program celebrated those who continue to champion those ideals that built and sustained this nation throughout its history. I support his ideals and think reflection on what made us a great nation encourages us to face the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Geo, I was not trying to be a smart aleck when I posted this morning. I fully meant to try and insert some sensibility and some insightful response to your questions after the morning opinion shows were over. I no longer feel like even trying to do so. After reading the responses recorded by some on the left, I realize it is a fruitless endevour. Idlewind has it exactly right in post #21. Among many on the left who post here there is often not even a modicum of civility. If one on the right post the same type of post they, it would appear, are banned. I know of at least one personally. She is a really good person and contributor to society. I always thought the political and current events forum of SoWal was fairly open to all to express their thoughts, research, experience and opinions openly, if at sometimes, sharply. It would appear that such is not the case. Therefore, I will continue to read the posts, say something objective when necessary regarding local government and happenings in SoWal and ignore the diatribes, idiocy and downright dirisiveness of so many who post in the political forum. I thought I could keep up with the best of them and I probably could but it has lost its intrest for me
One thing more. Glen Beck is trying to tell all that until we stand up for what we believe, what we were brought up with and what we have been taught as individuals we cannot work together as a group. I understand what he is trying to say. It is too bad so many don't. Until you can evaluate, understand, utilize and accept what has happened to you as an individual in life, you will never be able able to function successfully in society. If you don't have faith in yourself and your individual capabilities and learnings, then you have faith in nothing. Glen Beck said in his opening statement of the interview, "If the message is just for today, its meaningless". He was right.
you obviously have faith in a divorced, alcoholic, adhd raised roman catholic converted to mormon born again, intellectual lightweight who divides this country over the one media outlet that will allow him to spew race hatred daily , who calls the first black president in our history a racist, and decides to hold a "white suffering" pageant on the very place and date of mlk's famous speech. glenn beck will teach us all how to function? he speaks to you, doesn't he?

On the occasions when I've heard Beck, he tends to ramble about nothingness. I wouldn't be much concerned with anything about him. The fact of him having the "rally" on MLK's speech day at the same place, says much about Beck. The easiest way to stop putting money in his pocket is to totally ignore everything he says, and not to talk about him at all. Think about it -- half of his money comes from his followers and the other half comes from those whom dislike him. Both sides are apparently his audience.
